Why? The main idea of the school is to introduce three topics in probability theory, with the ambition of reaching research-level understanding of certain problems and applications. The school will last two weeks, the first one consisting of self-contained courses giving the necessary background on bachelor’s / master’s level, and the second one introducing active directions of research and applications by focusing on some recent results, reading articles and tackling problems in interaction among students and with instructors.
Where and when? The school is hosted by Nesin Mathematics Village in Turkey, from 17/08/26 to 29/08/26. Beware:
-Students stay in tents.
-The Village is a non-profit organisation hence everyone is supposed to contribute to some simple tasks such as distributing food, doing dishes or cleaning common areas. For other rules regarding the venue, please see the menu on the left.
Who can apply? Graduate students and advanced bachelor's students with a particular interest in probability theory are invited to apply.
What should I provide in my application? We ask you to provide your CV containing the information on your background: do not forget to include a list of the courses that you took that are relevant to the curriculum of the school. Note that we expect at least some basic knowledge in measure theory. We will also need a motivation letter from you as well as one or two reference letters. The number of participants is limited to 20, and we want to make sure that the participants can keep up with the program and get the most out of it. If you have any questions, you can contact us through probabilityinturkey@gmail.com .
The priority will be given to students coming from Turkey and neighboring countries. The number of participants are limited to 20. Applications are open until 30/04/2026 and you can apply from here.
How much does it cost / Can I ask for funding? There is no registration fee for the school. For accommodation, the fees of the village apply (prices for 2026 summer will soon be announced). The school is partially funded by AESIM and we are looking for additional sources of funding , hence we expect to cover the accommodation and/or traveling expenses of some (hopefully most) of the students.
