“The only way to learn mathematics is to do mathematics.”
~Paul Halmos
Born and raised in Mumbai, I thoroughly love living in this exciting city. I was able to achieve straight A grades and graduated with a First-Class Degree in Mathematics. An IIT-Bombay (M.Tech) Alumnus, I have a decorated academic journey. Securing All India Rank of 164 in prestigious GATE 2011 examination. The pinnacle of this list of success is obtaining First Rank in Mumbai in MHT CET 2008 Examination by scoring 199/200.
My passion for Mathematics is transmitted through my teaching, where I help each student obtain the necessary skills and confidence to reach their full potential for exams and beyond. My approach has always been to encourage each student to engage their curiosity when learning, as the conceptual understanding and application of what is being learnt is paramount when viewing the world through the eyes of a Mathematician. I believe many mathematical topics should be taught and learnt through problem solving.
It helps develop each student's understanding of Mathematics as requiring more than just rote learning, and more being about reasoning and experimenting. Putting students in challenging situations where the route to a solution is not immediately obvious is valuable in helping to develop their application and thinking skills, which are pivotal in doing well in any exams.
To satisfy my passion of working with young people, in 2017, I joined Orchids- The International School as a senior faculty of Mathematics. This gave me an opportunity to gain knowledge on different approaches to learning, reflect on my teaching practices and assessment of pupils; thereby enabling me to achieve an award of Best teacher being in the top 5 teachers amongst 3000 teachers, PAN India.
I have explored how various teaching methods, like exploration and instruction, progressive and traditional, creative, and imitative, could be blended to optimize pupils’ learning. I have planned engaging lessons with innovative activities. This has also helped me in bagging the award for the Most connected teacher based on the video analysis of about 150 lectures taken in 1 month time.
The key to opening the door to these opportunities is a deep understanding of important mathematical skills and utilization of sound mathematical habits of mind. Be prepared for a fun-filled year with math at Priyanshu’s Private Tutorials (PPT) to make the game of learning fun and enjoyable for each and every child.
