Parsiphal David Coletta ("I", "me", "my") built the Torchy app ("the App") as a free application. This Service is provided at no cost and is intended for use as is. This page informs users about my policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information in relation to the App.
Torchy is designed to function entirely offline and does not require user registration or account creation.
I do not intentionally collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data.
Specifically, the App does not collect:
Name, email address, or contact information
Location data
Device identifiers or advertising IDs
Usage analytics or telemetry data
IP addresses or log data
Photos, media, or files
The App does not transmit any data to external servers.
The App requests the following device permissions solely to provide its core flashlight functionality:
Camera – to access and control the device's flashlight/torch LED
Microphone – to detect sound levels for sound-activated flashlight mode
Vibration – to provide haptic feedback
Proximity Sensor – to detect when the device is covered (pocket mode / proximity lock)
Foreground Service – to allow gesture-based (shake) flashlight control while the app is in the background
Notifications – to display foreground service notifications when running in the background
These permissions are used exclusively on-device. No data from these sensors is recorded, stored, or transmitted.
The App stores a limited amount of non-personal data locally on your device using the device's internal storage (e.g., shared preferences). This may include:
User preferences (e.g., shake sensitivity threshold, proximity lock setting, screen lock setting)
Tutorial completion status
Selected visual theme
This data:
remains exclusively on your device
is not transmitted or shared with the developer
is not accessible by the developer
is automatically removed when the App is uninstalled
Under applicable data protection laws, including the GDPR, such data remains under the sole control of the user.
The App does not use any third-party services that may collect data. In particular, the App does not use:
Analytics services (e.g., Google Analytics, Firebase)
Advertising networks or ad SDKs
Crash reporting or diagnostics tools
Social media integrations
Cloud storage or backend services
The App does, however, include optional links that open external websites in the device's default browser:
Privacy Policy page — this document (hosted on Google Sites)
Developer page — the developer's public profile on Google Play Store
Ko-fi donation page — an optional support link at ko-fi.com/parsiphaldavidcoletta
These links are activated only by explicit user action. When you follow one of these links, you leave the App and are subject to the privacy policy of the respective external service. The developer has no control over and assumes no responsibility for data practices of those services.
In-App Review Prompt
The App may occasionally prompt you to rate it on the Google Play Store, using the rate_my_app library. This prompt is shown only after a minimum number of app launches and days of use (thresholds stored locally on your device). No data is transmitted to any server as a result of this prompt. If you choose to submit a rating, you are redirected to the Google Play Store, whose privacy policy applies.
The App does not use cookies or similar tracking technologies.
The App does not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of 13 (as defined by COPPA) or under the age of 16 (as defined by GDPR), nor from any other users. The App is safe for users of all ages.
Since the App does not transmit or store personal data externally, risks associated with data transmission are minimized. However, users are responsible for maintaining the security of their own device.
I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. You are advised to review this page periodically for any changes.
This policy is effective as of May 21, 2026.
Since the App does not process personal data, no legal basis for processing is required under the GDPR.
