Effective Date: February 27, 2026
Thank you for choosing Sidebar Pro. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring transparency about how your data is handled. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how it is used, and how it is protected.
Sidebar Pro is designed to respect your privacy. We do not require you to create an account, nor do we collect, transmit, or store your personally identifiable information (PII) on our servers.
The extension relies on your browser’s local storage (and optionally Chrome Sync) to function. The data created using the extension's tools remains on your device or within your synced Google account. This includes:
Bookmarks: Your saved bookmarks and folders.
To-Do List & Quick Notes: Tasks and text you save within the sidebar.
Settings: Your preferences, such as sidebar collapse state or selected tabs. We do not have access to this data, and it is never transmitted to us or any third-party servers.
To keep Sidebar Pro free, the extension includes an automated affiliate link system.
How it works: When you visit certain e-commerce or shopping websites (such as Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, etc.), the extension briefly checks the URL using the chrome.tabs API. If it matches a supported partner, the extension automatically appends an affiliate identifier to the URL.
Impact on you: This redirect does not change your shopping experience, the price of the items, or collect your personal data. It simply tells the retailer that you arrived via Sidebar Pro, which may earn us a small commission.
Data Privacy: This process happens dynamically in your browser. We do not track your browsing history, and we do not store or transmit a log of the websites you visit.
To provide its functionality, Sidebar Pro requires the following permissions upon installation:
sidePanel: Required to display the extension UI natively in the Chrome side panel.
storage: Required to save your tools (Notes, To-Dos, Settings) locally on your device.
bookmarks: Required to access, display, and manage your Chrome bookmarks within the sidebar.
tabs & <all_urls> / Webpage contents: Required to allow you to open and view any valid website URL directly in the sidebar iframe, and to process tab URL routing for the specified e-commerce domains for our affiliate program.
contextMenus: Allows quick right-click actions tailored to the sidebar interface.
declarativeNetRequestWithHostAccess: Required to intelligently manage navigation rules and append affiliate tagging parameters seamlessly.
alarms: Required to schedule periodic, lightweight background tasks securely.
Sidebar Pro integrates with minimal third-party APIs to deliver specific features:
URL Shortener: If you use the URL shortener tool, the long URL is sent to is.gd strictly for the purpose of generating a shortened link.
Favicons: To display website icons in your bookmarks list, the extension fetches icons from Google's Favicon service (t2.gstatic.com).
These services have their own privacy policies governing data use.
Because your data (notes, tasks, bookmarks) is stored locally within your Chrome browser profile, its security is tied to your device and your Google Account security settings. We strongly recommend keeping your browser updated and your device secured.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our extension or for legal/regulatory reasons. We will notify users of any significant changes by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy.
