Welcome to SafeHer ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and personal safety. This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, and safeguarded when you use the SafeHer mobile application.
SafeHer is a personal safety and emergency response app. To deliver life-saving functionality, the app requires specific Android permissions:
A. Location Information (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION, ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION)
How It Is Used:
To calculate and attach your real-time GPS coordinates to emergency SOS SMS alerts sent to your trusted contacts.
To display your live position on the Safe Route Map and locate nearby police stations and healthcare centers within your selected range (500m – 5km).
Storage & Sharing: Your location is processed locally in real-time. It is only shared via SMS when you intentionally trigger an SOS alert or enable Live Tracking. We do not sell or track your location on remote servers.
B. Contacts Access (READ_CONTACTS)
How It Is Used: Allows you to select trusted emergency guardians from your device's contact list.
Storage & Sharing: Selected emergency contact numbers are saved locally on your device in secure app storage. We never upload or share your entire phonebook.
C. SMS & Direct Phone Calls (SEND_SMS, CALL_PHONE)
How It Is Used:
Automatically sends emergency distress SMS messages containing your live location to your pre-saved contacts when SOS is activated.
Initiates emergency calls to national helplines (e.g., 112, 1091) or your primary emergency contact.
Storage & Sharing: SMS messages and calls are dispatched directly through your device's cellular carrier.
D. Camera & Flashlight (CAMERA, FLASHLIGHT)
How It Is Used:
Operates the high-intensity strobe flashlight as a visual deterrent in dark or unsafe environments.
Allows capturing emergency photo/video evidence during active distress situations if enabled by the user.
E. Microphone / Audio Recording (RECORD_AUDIO)
How It Is Used: Records short ambient audio clips during active emergency SOS events to preserve evidence. Audio files remain stored locally on your device unless shared by you.
F. Device Motion & Sensors (SENSORS)
How It Is Used: Detects shake gestures and hardware button triggers (volume rapid clicks) to activate emergency alerts even when the screen is locked.
SafeHer uses trusted third-party providers for core map and ad support:
OpenStreetMap & Overpass API: Used to render map tiles and query public locations of police and hospital stations. No personal identifiers are transmitted.
Google Mobile Ads (AdMob): SafeHer displays standard ads to keep safety tools free. Google AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data according to Google's Privacy Policy.
Local Storage First: All sensitive configurations (emergency contact names, custom SOS messages, safe PINs) are stored locally on your device via encrypted preferences.
No Unauthorized Sharing: We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal safety data, contacts, or location records with any third-party marketing companies.
SafeHer is not directed to children under 13 without parental consent. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
You can review, modify, or revoke permissions granted to SafeHer at any time via your device settings (Settings > Apps > SafeHer > Permissions). Note that disabling location or SMS permissions will impact emergency SOS delivery.
