QuietLog ("the App", "we", "us") is a migraine and headache tracking app developed as an independent, single-developer project. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App handles and how, in plain language.
The short version: QuietLog stores everything on your device only, in an encrypted local database. We do not operate any server that receives, stores, or has access to your health data. We do not show ads, and we do not use any third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
1. Information the App Collects
All of the following is entered by you and stored only on your device:
Attack records: date and time, pain intensity, location of pain, symptoms, possible triggers, medications taken, and any free-text notes you add.
Medication list: names and dosages you enter for your own reference.
Barometric pressure: if your device has a barometric pressure sensor, the App may record the current reading at the time you log an attack, to show a pressure/frequency correlation. This uses the device's built-in sensor and does not involve location tracking.
App settings: your chosen preferences (such as measurement units and reminder settings) and whether you have purchased the Premium upgrade.
We do not collect your name, email address, precise (GPS) location, contacts, photos, or any other data unless you choose to type it into a note field yourself.
2. How Your Information Is Used
Everything you enter is used only to power the App's own features on your device: showing your history, calculating statistics and trends, generating the barometric pressure correlation, and producing a PDF report if you request one. We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than running the App for you.
3. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored in a local database on your device, encrypted at rest. The encryption key is generated on your device and protected by the Android Keystore; it is never transmitted anywhere. Because we do not operate a server for this data, we have no ability to view, access, or recover it — if you uninstall the App or lose your device without a backup, that data is gone, including for us.
4. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties. The only way your data leaves your device is if you actively choose to do so — for example, by using the App's "Generate and share" feature to create a PDF report and send it (e.g., to your doctor) through Android's standard share menu. That sharing action, and the destination you pick, is entirely under your control; we have no visibility into it.
5. Third-Party Services
The App's one-time "Premium" upgrade is processed through Google Play's billing system (Google Play Billing Library). Google handles the payment itself; we do not receive or store your payment card details. That transaction is subject to Google's own privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
We do not integrate any advertising networks, and we do not use third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs that transmit data off your device.
6. Permissions
The App does not request access to your camera, microphone, contacts, photos, or precise location. If your device has a barometric pressure sensor, the App reads it locally to record atmospheric pressure at the time of logging; this does not require or use location permissions.
7. Data Retention and Your Control
Your data stays on your device for as long as you keep the App installed. You can view, edit, or delete any individual record at any time from within the App — editing and deleting your own entries is always free and available, with no restrictions. Uninstalling the App permanently deletes all of its locally stored data.
8. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
9. Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes — for example, if a future version of the App adds an optional account or cloud sync feature — we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above before that feature becomes active, and any such feature will require your explicit, separate consent before any health data leaves your device.
