Privacy Policy For Phantom Crypt
Privacy Policy For Phantom Crypt
Last updated: September 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Phantom Crypt ("the app," "we," "us") handles information when you use it. Phantom Crypt is an Android utility app for encrypting and decrypting text and files, generating hashes, using classical ciphers, RSA encryption, image steganography, and QR codes, and storing encrypted notes in a secure vault. All encryption and decryption happens on your device.
Information We Access
Phantom Crypt has no user accounts and does not operate servers that receive your content. The app accesses the following only when you use the related feature:
* Files and images you choose: When you pick a file or image to encrypt, decrypt, or hide a message in, the app reads it through Android's system file picker. Files are processed on your device only and are never uploaded by the app. Results are saved only where you choose, or shared only with the app you select in Android's share menu.
* Text you enter or paste: Processed on your device and never transmitted by us.
* Passwords, PINs, and keys: Passwords you type into the encryption tools are used on your device to generate encryption keys and are not stored by the app. Your App Lock and Vault PINs or passwords are not stored in readable form.
* Fingerprint / Face unlock: If you enable biometric unlock, the check is performed by Android itself. The app only receives a success or failure result and never accesses your fingerprint or face data.
* Clipboard: When you tap Copy, the app places that text on your clipboard. If you turn on "Auto-clear clipboard," the app clears it after 30 seconds, but only if it still contains the text the app copied.
* Shared content: If you send a file or image to Phantom Crypt from another app using Android's share menu, the app receives that item so you can encrypt it.
* Internet access: Used only to load ads and to communicate with Google Play for purchases. The app never sends your text, files, keys, or passwords over the network.
None of the above is collected by us, stored on our servers, or sold.
Information Stored Locally On Your Device
Phantom Crypt stores the following on your device using standard Android app storage. It stays on your device and is never transmitted to us. It is removed if you clear the app's data or uninstall the app.
* Preferences: your theme and accent color, App Lock and clipboard settings, and similar app settings.
* App Lock: your PIN or password is stored only as a salted one-way hash in Android's secure storage. If you enable biometric unlock, the secret needed for that is kept in Android's secure storage, backed by the device Keystore.
* History: a log of your actions, including the action type, the algorithm used, the time, the file name (for file operations), and the resulting output, such as encrypted text or hash values. Decrypted text is NOT saved in History unless you turn on "Store decrypted text in History" in Settings. If you turn it on, anyone who can open the app on your device can read that decrypted text. You can delete individual entries or clear all History at any time.
* Secure Vault: notes are encrypted using a key protected by your vault PIN or password. Note titles, vault names, and dates are stored unencrypted so the app can display your list. The recovery code shown when you create a vault is never stored by the app.
* Purchase status: whether Phantom Crypt Pro is unlocked on your device.
* Temporary files: files created during an operation (for example an encrypted file, a PDF export, or an image with a hidden message) may be kept briefly in the app's temporary storage before you save or share them.
Security And Your Responsibility
We cannot recover your passwords, PINs, encryption keys, or recovery codes, and we have no access to your data. If you forget them and lose your recovery code, your encrypted data cannot be recovered. The strength of your protection depends on the password you choose. Classical ciphers and encodings in the app (such as Caesar, Vigenère, Base64, and Morse) are provided for learning and convenience and do not provide real security.
In-App Purchases
Phantom Crypt offers an optional one-time "Pro" purchase, processed entirely by Google Play. We do not receive or store your payment details. Google Play may provide us with the purchase status needed to unlock Pro features. Pro also removes ads.
Donations
The app includes an optional Donate link that opens Razorpay in your browser. Donations do not unlock any features. Payments are handled by Razorpay under its own privacy policy: https://razorpay.com/privacy/ We do not receive your payment details.
Advertising
Phantom Crypt is supported by ads served through Google AdMob, including banner, interstitial, and optional rewarded ads. AdMob may collect device identifiers (such as your advertising ID) and other information, and use them to show ads and measure ad performance. This collection is governed by Google's Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another region where consent is required, the app shows a consent message from Google's User Messaging Platform before any ads load. You can review or change your choice at any time in Settings > Ad privacy choices. Ads are not shown to users who have purchased Pro. You can also review or reset your advertising ID, or opt out of personalized advertising, in your device's Android system settings under Google > Ads.
Data We Do Not Collect
Phantom Crypt does not require account creation or login. We do not collect your name, email address, or contact information unless you voluntarily send it to us (for example, by emailing us for support). The app itself does not include analytics or crash-reporting tools. We do not sell your personal data to anyone.
Third-Party Services
Phantom Crypt uses the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:
* Google AdMob (advertising): https://policies.google.com/privacy
* Google Play Services and Google Play Billing (app services and purchases): https://policies.google.com/privacy
* Razorpay (optional donations, opened in your browser): https://razorpay.com/privacy/
Your Choices

* Turn off App Lock or biometric unlock in Settings, or in the vault's own settings.
* Reset your advertising ID in your Android system settings.
* Clear the app's data or uninstall the app to remove everything stored locally. Files you have saved or shared outside the app remain where you put them, and you control them.
