FileSnap - Document Scanner is a private document scanner app designed to help users scan, organize, save, and share documents from their device.
This Privacy Policy explains how FileSnap handles information. FileSnap is designed to work offline-first. Your scanned documents are stored locally on your device and are not uploaded to our servers.
1. Information We Do Not Collect
FileSnap does not require an account, login, or cloud storage.
We do not collect, store, sell, or share:
Your scanned documents
Your photos or document images
Extracted text from documents
Folder names or document titles
Personal identity information
Contact lists
Location data
Advertising identifiers
Analytics data for tracking users
2. Information Stored Locally on Your Device
FileSnap stores app data locally on your device, including:
Scanned document images
PDF files created by the app
Document titles
Folder names
Created and updated dates
Text extracted through Text Recognition
App settings, such as theme preference and premium status
This data remains on your device unless you choose to share, export, back up, or delete it.
3. Camera and Photo Access
FileSnap may request camera access so you can scan documents.
The app may also allow you to import images from your device gallery if you choose to use that feature.
Camera and gallery access are used only to create scans selected by you. FileSnap does not access your camera or photos in the background.
4. Document Scanning and Text Recognition
FileSnap may use on-device scanning and text recognition features to detect documents, improve scan results, and extract text.
Text Recognition is processed for app functionality and the extracted text is stored locally on your device. FileSnap does not upload extracted text to our servers.
5. Sharing and Exporting Files
FileSnap allows you to export or share scans as images, PDF files, or text files.
When you choose to share a file, the selected file is sent to the app or service you choose, such as email, messaging apps, Google Drive, or other installed apps. Once you share a file outside FileSnap, that third-party app or service handles the file according to its own privacy policy.
6. PDF Watermark
In the free version, exported PDF files may include a FileSnap watermark. Premium users may export files without the watermark.
7. Premium Purchases
FileSnap may offer a one-time lifetime premium upgrade.
Purchases are processed by Google Play. We do not collect or store your payment card details. Google Play may process purchase information according to Google’s own privacy policy and payment terms.
FileSnap may store premium status locally on your device to unlock premium features.
8. Internet Connection
FileSnap is designed to work offline.
The app does not require internet access for scanning, saving, organizing, or viewing documents.
If future optional online AI features are added, such as cloud-based document enhancement or AI summaries, they will only be used with user action or permission, and this Privacy Policy will be updated before such features are made available.
9. Third-Party Services
FileSnap may use platform services and libraries required for app functionality, such as:
Google Play billing for purchases
Android system sharing tools
On-device document scanning or text recognition components
These services are used only to provide app features. FileSnap does not sell user data to third parties.
10. Data Retention and Deletion
Your scans and app data remain on your device until you delete them.
You can delete scans, folders, images, PDFs, and extracted text from within the app. You may also uninstall the app to remove locally stored app data, subject to your device’s operating system behavior and backups.
11. Data Security
Because FileSnap stores documents locally, your device security is important. We recommend using a device lock, secure backup settings, and updated Android security patches.
FileSnap does not provide cloud backup or account-based recovery.
12. Children’s Privacy
FileSnap is a general productivity tool and is not directed specifically to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
13. Your Choices
You can:
Deny camera permission
Delete scans from the app
Choose whether to share files
Keep all documents stored locally
Uninstall the app at any time
14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
