Split Music Together ("the app", "we", "us") is a music player for Android that lets you listen on your own with Solo Player, or play two different tracks at the same time through a shared pair of headphones or earbuds with Music Together. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information.
In short: the app plays audio files that are already on your device. We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not collect, upload, or sell your music, your playlists, or your personal information.
1. Who is responsible for your data
This app is developed and published by Vision Apps Technologies ("the developer"). If you have any question about this policy, you can contact us at support@visionappstechnologies.com
2. Information we do not collect
The app does not collect, request, or store:
your name, email address, phone number, or postal address;
your contacts, messages, call logs, or photos;
your precise or approximate location;
account credentials — the app has no sign-in or registration;
Copies of your audio files. Your music stays on your device and is never uploaded to us.
3. Information stored on your device
To make the app work, some information is saved locally in the app's private storage on your phone. This stays on your device, is not readable by other apps, and is not sent to us:
Music library index — track titles, artist names, album names, durations, and file paths read from the media on your device, used to build the Sound Library and the artist, album, and playlist filters;
My Playlists and Song Collections — the playlists and collections you create;
Top Picks — the tracks you mark as favorites;
Playback and app settings — last played track, playback position, volume level for each channel, repeat and shuffle state, sort order, and theme.
Removing this data is described in section 9.
4. Permissions the app requests, and why
Android asks for your approval before granting these. You can refuse or revoke any of them in Settings → Apps → Split Music Together → Permissions, although some features will not work without them.
Music and audio files
READ_MEDIA_AUDIO on Android 13 and above, or READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE on older versions. Required so the app can find and play the audio files stored on your device. The app reads these files only to play them and to list them in your library.
Nearby devices / Bluetooth
BLUETOOTH_CONNECT. Used to detect the headphones, earbuds, or speaker you have connected, so Music Together can route one track to the left channel and a different track to the right channel of a shared pair. The app does not scan for or track people or devices around you, and does not use Bluetooth to derive your location.
Notifications
POST_NOTIFICATIONS. Used only to show the playback notification with play, pause, next, and previous controls while music is running.
Background playback
FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK, and WAKE_LOCK. Used to keep your music playing when the screen is off or you switch to another app.
Internet access
INTERNET and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE. Used only by the third-party services listed in section 5. Playback itself works offline.
5. Third-party services
The app uses the following services, which may collect information under their own privacy policies:
Google Play Services — required for distribution and basic app functionality. policies.google.com/privacy
Google AdMob — displays advertising inside the app. AdMob may use a device advertising identifier to select and measure ads. Google's advertising policy
Google Analytics for Firebase — anonymous, aggregated statistics about which screens and features are used, so we can improve the app.
Firebase Crashlytics — crash reports containing the device model, operating system version, and the technical state of the app at the moment it crashed, so we can fix bugs.
Before publishing: delete any service in this list that your build does not actually include. Your Play Console Data safety form must match this section exactly. (Delete this note too.)
Advertising choices
You can reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in Settings → Google → Ads on your device. If you are in a region covered by the GDPR or similar rules, the app will ask for your consent before showing personalized ads, and you can change that choice at any time from the app's settings.
6. How your information is used
The limited information described above is used only to:
show your music library and play the tracks you select;
remember your playlists, favorites, and preferences between sessions;
diagnose crashes and technical problems;
understand which features are used, in aggregate;
display advertising that keeps the app free.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with data brokers.
7. Sharing of information
We share information only with the service providers named in section 5, and only to the extent needed for the purposes described there. We may also disclose information if we are legally required to do so by a valid legal request.
8. Children's privacy
The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at support@visionappstechnologies.com and we will delete it.
9. Data retention and deletion
Playlists, favorites, and settings are kept on your device until you delete them. To remove everything at once, clear the app's data in Settings → Apps → Split Music Together → Storage → Clear data, or uninstall the app. Uninstalling removes all app data from your device; it does not delete your own music files.
Crash and analytics data held by Google is retained according to Google's own retention schedules. To request deletion of any data associated with your device, write to support@visionappstechnologies.com
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal information, to object to processing, or to withdraw consent. Because the app does not hold an account or a profile for you, most of this data lives only on your device and is under your direct control. For anything else, contact us at support@visionappstechnologies.com and we will respond within 30 days.
Residents of California may also request details of any personal information collected about them, and may opt out of its sale — we do not sell personal information.
11. Data security
App data is stored in Android's private app storage and is protected by the operating system's sandbox. Data sent to the services in section 5 is transmitted over encrypted connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. International transfers
The third-party providers named above may process data on servers located outside your country, including in the United States. Those providers maintain their own safeguards for such transfers.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes or as legal requirements evolve. The revised version will be posted at this address with a new "Last updated" date. Significant changes will be announced in the app or on the Play Store listing.
