Introduction
8th Labor ("Rostam in Naples," "the App," "we," "our," or "us") is a utility application designed for international students in Naples, Italy. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and your rights regarding your data.
Information We Collect
The App is designed with a privacy-first approach. We do not collect, transmit, or store your personal data on any external server. All information you enter into the App remains stored locally on your device.
The types of information you may choose to enter include:
Profile information: your name, passport number, Codice Fiscale, university Matricola number, and any custom document fields you create.
Profile photo: a photo you select from your device's photo library.
Scanned documents: images of documents captured using your device's camera or imported from your photo library, along with text extracted from those images using on-device optical character recognition (OCR).
Calendar events: custom events and reminders you create within the App.
Support messages: subject lines and message content you compose when contacting support via email.
Chat messages: conversations with the Arash AI assistant within the App.
How Your Data Is Stored
All data is stored locally on your device using Apple's UserDefaults and the app's Documents directory. No data is uploaded to any cloud service, external server, or third-party database operated by us. If you delete the App, all locally stored data will be permanently removed.
Third-Party Services
The App uses Apple's Foundation Models framework for the AI chat assistant (Arash). This processing occurs on-device when supported by your device hardware. When on-device models are not available, the App uses a built-in offline response system with pre-written answers. No chat data is sent to external AI services.
The App uses Apple's Vision framework for optical character recognition (OCR) to extract text from scanned documents. All OCR processing is performed entirely on your device. No document images or extracted text are transmitted externally.
When you use the Support feature, the App opens your device's default email client (such as Apple Mail or Gmail) with a pre-filled email addressed to 8thlabor@gmail.com. The email is sent through your own email account and is subject to your email provider's privacy policy. We only receive the email you choose to send.
Camera and Photo Library Access
The App requests access to your device's camera to scan documents and access to your photo library to select a profile photo or import document images. These permissions are requested only when needed and can be revoked at any time through your device's Settings. Images captured or selected are stored locally on your device and are never uploaded to any external server.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, rent, or share your personal information with any third parties. No analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs are integrated into the App. We do not collect usage statistics, device identifiers, or any form of telemetry.
Data Retention
Your data remains on your device for as long as you keep the App installed. You can delete all stored data at any time using the "Clear All Data" option in the Profile section. Uninstalling the App will permanently delete all associated data from your device.
Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since all data is stored locally on the user's device and never transmitted to us, we have no means of identifying the age of our users.
Security
Since all data is stored locally on your device, the security of your information depends on your device's built-in security features, including device passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID. We recommend keeping your device software up to date and using a strong passcode.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
