EnglishFlow AI ("the Extension", "we", "us") is a browser extension that helps users learn English by providing instant word definitions, translations, pronunciations, example sentences, related images, and articles while browsing websites, watching YouTube, or watching Netflix. This Privacy Policy explains what data the Extension collects, how it is used, how it is stored, and which third parties it is shared with.
1. Data We Collect
If you choose to sign in with Google, we collect your email address and basic Google profile information (your name and profile picture) in order to create and authenticate your account and to sync your saved words across your devices. When you click "Save" on a word, we store that word along with the sentence or context it appears in, so we can build the personal vocabulary list shown in your dashboard. When you click a word or phrase to translate it, that specific word or phrase is sent to translation and dictionary services so a definition can be returned to you. And when you change the language in the panel, your preferred translation language is stored locally in your browser so the Extension can remember your preference.
We do not collect your browsing history, passwords, financial information, or the general content of the pages you visit. The Extension only processes the specific word or sentence you choose to interact with.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not share your data with any party except the service providers listed below, and only to deliver the Extension's core features.

We use Google Firebase (Authentication, Realtime Database, and Firestore) for user authentication and cloud storage of your account and saved words; for this we send your email, profile, and the saved words and their sentences (privacy policy: firebase.google.com/support/privacy). We use Google Identity / OAuth to provide "Sign in with Google" authentication, which receives your email and basic profile (policies.google.com/privacy). We use Google Translate (translate.googleapis.com) to translate words into your chosen language, sending it the single word or phrase you click (policies.google.com/privacy). We use DictionaryAPI.dev to retrieve the English definition, phonetics, and examples for the single word you click (dictionaryapi.dev).
To retrieve related illustrative images for a word you saved, we use Pixabay (pixabay.com/service/privacy), with Pollinations.ai as a fallback for image generation when other sources return no result (pollinations.ai). To retrieve related reference material and articles for a word you saved, we use Wikipedia / the Wikimedia Foundation for a related encyclopedia page (Wikimedia Privacy Policy), along with Medium (Medium Privacy Policy), National Geographic (nationalgeographic.com/privacy), and the Oxford University Press Blog at blog.oup.com (global.oup.com/privacy) for related articles.
We do not sell your personal data, we do not use your data for advertising, and we do not share your data with any party except the service providers listed above, and only to deliver the Extension's core features.
4. Data Storage and Retention
Your account details and saved words are stored in Google Firebase on Google's secure cloud infrastructure.
Your language preference is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage and never leaves your device.
Your data is retained for as long as your account exists. If you wish to delete your account and all associated data, contact us using the details below and we will remove it.
5. Limited Use Disclosure
EnglishFlow AI's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We only use the data to provide and improve the Extension's features, and we do not transfer or use it for serving advertisements, for any unrelated purpose, or sell it to third parties.
6. Children's Privacy
The Extension is intended for general audiences and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.
