Welcome to EcoSplit: Smart Expense & Bill Splitter ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our mobile application (the "App").
EcoSplit is designed from the ground up as a fully decentralized, pure offline utility app.
No Server Storage: We do not own, operate, or maintain any external servers or database clusters.
Local Processing: All computation matrices, group ledger tracking, transactions, names, and settlement route minimization calculations are processed entirely locally on your device’s hardware.
Personal Data: We do not collect, harvest, upload, transmission, or share any personal identifiable information (PII), such as your name, email address, phone number, or financial records.
To deliver core utility features, the App requires minimal standard system permissions, managed explicitly on your device:
Local Storage / SharedPreferences: Used strictly to save your onboarding state flag (ecosplit_initialized) and configuration data locally on your device. This data never leaves your app sandbox.
System Clipboard / Share Sheet Access: Utilized only when you explicitly trigger the "Clipboard" copy action or use the "Share System" module through native system overlays to distribute text-based expense reports.
The App runs locally; however, it integrates standard, widely trusted native open-source building blocks:
Flutter Framework & Plugins: Built using Flutter, utilizing local system packages (shared_preferences, share_plus). These packages operate locally and do not aggregate tracking telemetry.
Since our App does not collect, store, or transmit any data or request internet access for analytical user-profiling, EcoSplit is inherently safe for users of all ages, including children under the age of 13. We comply fully with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) guidelines.
Because your split matrices and ledger details reside exclusively within the application's isolated local sandbox directory on your operating system, the absolute security of your records depends entirely on the physical and digital security protocols of your personal mobile device.
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect architecture refinements. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy document directly within this link or app platform distribution page.
