Color Tap is a Chrome extension that helps users identify, analyze, inspect, copy and export colors and gradients from webpages.
Color Tap is designed with privacy in mind. The extension processes webpage information locally in the browser and does not send collected webpage information to external servers.
When you actively use Color Tap, the extension may access information from the webpage currently being viewed, including:
Colors used by webpage elements.
Background and border colors.
CSS gradients.
HTML elements and their visual styles.
Typography information such as font family, size and weight.
Information needed to identify where a selected color is used.
This information is accessed solely to provide Color Tap's color analysis, color picking and element inspection features.
Color Tap stores your favorites and color history locally using Chrome's storage API.
This information remains on your device and is not transmitted to Color Tap or third parties.
You can delete individual favorites or history entries, or clear them entirely from the extension.
When you choose to copy a color, CSS declaration or exported palette, Color Tap writes the requested information to your clipboard.
Clipboard access is only used to provide the requested copy functionality.
Information accessed by Color Tap is used only to:
Detect and analyze webpage colors.
Detect gradients.
Pick colors using the EyeDropper.
Inspect webpage elements.
Highlight elements using a selected color.
Copy colors and CSS.
Save favorites and color history.
Export color palettes as CSS or JSON.
Color Tap does not use this information for advertising, profiling, tracking or unrelated purposes.
Color Tap does not sell, rent or share webpage content, color history, favorites or browsing information with third parties.
Color Tap does not transmit webpage content or browsing activity to external servers.
Color Tap does not collect or store your browsing history.
The extension only accesses the active webpage when you use a feature that requires access to that page.
Color Tap requests the following permissions:
activeTab — Used to access the webpage currently being viewed when you interact with Color Tap.
scripting — Used to analyze webpage colors, inspect elements and highlight elements using selected colors.
clipboardWrite — Used to copy colors, CSS declarations and palettes to your clipboard.
storage — Used to save favorites and color history locally on your device.
Color Tap does not use external analytics, advertising, tracking or data-processing services.
No account or registration is required.
Color Tap does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If Color Tap's data practices change, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly.
