This Privacy Policy describes how the Color Picker Pro browser extension (“the Extension”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you use it. By using the Extension, you agree to this policy.
Summary
Color Picker Pro works entirely on your device. It does not send your browsing data, screenshots, or color lists to our servers—we do not operate data collection servers for this Extension. Data is stored only in your browser using Chrome’s local storage APIs, and anything you copy is handled by your system clipboard when you choose to copy.
What the Extension does
Eyedropper: Lets you sample colors from web pages you visit and shows values in HEX, RGB, and OKLCH.
Picked colors: Saves colors you click while eyedropping into a local list inside the Extension.
Palette from tab: When you choose to generate a palette, the Extension captures a screenshot of the visible area of the active tab to analyze colors and suggest a harmonious palette.
Export: Lets you copy generated text (CSS, SCSS, or a HEX list) to your clipboard.
Information stored on your device
The Extension may store the following locally in chrome.storage.local (only on your machine):
Eyedropper on/off state — keeps the page overlay in sync with the popup.
List of “Picked” colors (HEX and RGB values you sampled) — shows your saved swatches when you open the popup.
You can clear Picked from the Extension’s popup. Turning off eyedropper mode updates the stored state accordingly.
Permissions and why they are used
activeTab: Used only after you interact with the Extension (for example opening the popup or using its actions) so it can communicate with the currently active tab to toggle the eyedropper or capture the visible tab for palette generation. It does not grant ongoing access to all your tabs.
storage: Saves the small pieces of local state described above.
Content scripts (broad host access): A minimal script is injected on pages where you use the eyedropper so it can read colors from the page you are viewing. The Extension does not use this to track websites you visit or to upload page content.
Screenshots (palette generation)
When you click Generate palette from tab screen, Chrome may provide a bitmap of the visible viewport of the active tab to the Extension. That image is processed in your browser to extract colors. It is not uploaded to our servers (we do not receive it).
Clipboard
When you copy HEX, CSS, SCSS, or Figma-oriented text, the Extension uses the clipboard APIs provided by the browser so you can paste into other tools. We do not receive clipboard contents.
Third parties and analytics
The Extension does not include third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, or remote configuration that loads executable code from the network. We do not sell personal data.
If the Chrome Web Store or your browser processes technical metadata (for example crash reports) according to Google’s policies, that processing is governed by Google, not by this Extension package.
Children’s privacy
The Extension is not directed at children under 13, and it does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy when the Extension’s behavior changes. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
