RetroArcade Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 30, 2026
RetroArcade ("the extension") is a Chrome extension offering 16 retro-style arcade games with an in-game economy (coins, skins, loot boxes, achievements). This policy explains what data the extension collects, how it is used, where it is stored, and who it is shared with.
What we collect
Account username: If you choose to create an account to appear on the global leaderboard, RetroArcade collects the username you enter.
Password (hashed): If you set a password for your account, it is hashed using SHA-256 before being sent or stored. We do not store or transmit your plaintext password.
Gameplay and economy data: Coin balances, owned skins, loot box contents, achievement/badge progress, challenge progress, and high scores for each game.
Leaderboard data: If you opt into the global leaderboard, your username and high scores are stored so they can be displayed to other users.
RetroArcade does not collect your name, email address, physical address, IP address, browsing history, or any data from websites you visit. The extension does not use cookies or tracking pixels.
How we use this data
Collected data is used solely to operate the extension's features: saving your progress between sessions, displaying your stats and achievements, and powering the optional global leaderboard.
How and where data is stored
Local storage: Most gameplay data (coins, skins, achievements, challenge progress) is stored locally on your device using Chrome's storage API, and is not transmitted anywhere unless you opt into the global leaderboard.
Cloud storage (Firebase/Firestore): If you create an account and opt into the global leaderboard, your username, hashed password, and scores are stored on Google Firebase (Firestore), a third-party cloud database service. Firebase's own privacy practices are described at https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
Who we share data with
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers or any third party for marketing purposes. The only third party involved is Google Firebase, which acts solely as our cloud database host for leaderboard data, as described above. We do not share data with any other party.
Data retention and deletion
Locally stored data persists until you uninstall the extension or clear your browser's extension storage. Leaderboard data stored on Firebase persists until you request deletion. To request deletion of your leaderboard account and associated data, contact us at [your contact email].
Children's privacy
RetroArcade does not knowingly collect data from children and does not request any personal information beyond an optional username for leaderboard play.
