1. Overview
SynEdge is a volume control overlay application for Android. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App accesses, how it is used, and your rights as a user.
The short version: SynEdge does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. Everything the App does stays entirely on your device.
2. Information We Do NOT Collect
SynEdge does not:
• Collect your name, email address, or any personal identifiers
• Transmit any data to external servers or third parties
• Use analytics or tracking SDKs
• Use crash reporting or diagnostics services
• Access your contacts, camera, microphone, location, or files
• Create user accounts or user profiles
The App has no internet permission and is technically incapable of sending any data off your device.
3. Data Stored Locally on Your Device
The App stores the following preferences locally on your device only, using Android's DataStore. This data never leaves your device.
Selected skin and theme — Remembers your last chosen overlay appearance
Overlay size and position — Remembers where you placed the overlay on screen
App exclusion list — Apps you've chosen to suppress the overlay for
Volume snap points — Custom volume levels you've configured
Notification and haptic preferences — Your sound/vibration settings
Membership tier (FREE / PRO / FOUNDER) — Determines which features are unlocked
You can clear all stored data at any time by uninstalling the App or clearing the App's data from Android Settings > Apps > SynEdge > Clear Data.
4. Permissions Explained
SynEdge requests the following permissions. Each is used solely for the App's core function.
Accessibility Service
Why it's needed: Android does not provide a standard API to detect volume button presses when the screen is off or another app is in the foreground. The Accessibility Service is used exclusively to intercept volume key events so the overlay can respond to them.
What it does NOT do: It does not read screen content, monitor other apps, capture keystrokes, or access any personal information. The service only listens for volume up and volume down key events.
Display Over Other Apps
Why it's needed: To draw the volume control overlay on top of other applications.
What it does NOT do: It does not read or interact with the content of other apps.
Battery Optimization Exemption
Why it's needed: To keep the overlay service running reliably in the background. Without this, Android may terminate the service during extended use.
Post Notifications (Optional)
Why it's needed: To display a persistent notification required by Android for foreground services, and to show a recovery alert if the Accessibility Service is disabled.
5. In-App Purchases
SynEdge offers optional in-app purchases (PRO and Founder tiers) processed entirely through Google Play Billing. We do not receive, process, or store any payment information. All billing data is handled by Google under their own Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy).
The only purchase-related information retained by the App is your membership tier (FREE, PRO, or FOUNDER), stored locally on your device to unlock the appropriate features.
6. Children's Privacy
SynEdge is intended for users aged 13 and older. The App does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used the App, no data has been collected — the App is incapable of doing so.
7. Third-Party Services
The only third-party service integrated into SynEdge is Google Play Billing for processing in-app purchases. We do not integrate any advertising networks, analytics platforms, social media SDKs, or any other third-party libraries that collect data.
8. Data Security
Since no personal data is collected or transmitted, there is no risk of your data being intercepted, breached, or misused through the App. All locally stored preferences are protected by Android's standard application sandboxing.
9. Your Rights
Since SynEdge does not collect personal data, most data subject rights (access, rectification, deletion, portability) are not applicable. However:
To delete all app data: Uninstall the App or go to Android Settings > Apps > SynEdge > Clear Data.
To revoke permissions: Go to Android Settings > Apps > SynEdge > Permissions and disable any permission at any time. Note that revoking the Accessibility Service or overlay permission will prevent the App from functioning.
Users in the European Union (GDPR): No personal data is processed, so no lawful basis for processing is required. If you have questions, contact us at aionyxe@gmail.com.
Users in California (CCPA): We do not sell personal information. We do not collect personal information to sell.
Users in India (DPDPA 2023): No personal data as defined under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 is collected, processed, or transferred by the App.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by an updated effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. For significant changes, we will update the App's Play Store listing.
