This Privacy Policy explains how Privacy Display: Screen Hider (“Privacy Display,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use our Android application (the “App”).
Privacy Display provides on-device screen-privacy and digital protection tools, including dynamic screen dimming, pattern overlays, reading slots/screen guard, notification privacy controls, child lock app protection, home screen widgets, Quick Settings tile controls, Shake to Panic emergency protection, automatic update checks, and optional Premium features.
By installing or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
We access device information and Android permissions only when strictly necessary to provide features that you explicitly choose to enable. All core privacy configurations and personal preferences remain on your local device.
Purpose: If you choose to enable the Child Lock / Child Mode feature, the App requests Android’s Accessibility Service permission.
How it works: The Accessibility Service is used solely to detect the package name of the app currently opening on your screen in real time. If the app is in your parent-selected blocked list or during an active child session, the App immediately displays the Child Lock shield and PIN entry screen.
Data Privacy & Security: The Accessibility Service is never used to read your keystrokes, passwords, private message content, form inputs, or financial information. It does not record your screen, track browsing activity, or transmit any user data off your device. You can revoke this permission at any time in Android Settings > Accessibility.
Purpose: The App requests the SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW permission to display visual privacy layers on top of your screen.
How it works: Used exclusively to draw privacy filters, dim overlays, security patterns (Bayer, Scanlines, Louvers, Carbon, Noise, Dots, etc.), circular/slot peepholes (Screen Guard), fake crash screens, child lock protection overlays, floating privacy controls, and Shake to Panic emergency shields.
Data Privacy: The App does not capture your screen, record screen content, take screenshots, or inspect private content displayed by underlying applications.
Purpose: If you use App-Specific Privacy or Child Lock and grant Android Usage Access, the App identifies which app is in the foreground.
How it works: Allows you to select specific apps for privacy protection, customize per-app dimming/patterns, and block restricted apps for children.
Data Privacy: Installed app packages and usage state are processed locally on your device in real time. We do not transmit, log, or sell your installed app lists or usage analytics.
Purpose: If you enable Notification Privacy and grant Notification Listener access:
The App inspects incoming notification metadata (app package name and notification key) to temporarily hide heads-up popups, obscure status bar notification sender details, or apply sensitive preview filters.
Data Privacy: The App does not read, log, or store private message contents, email bodies, OTP codes, or banking transaction details. If you enable the local Notification History log, the App stores only the app package name and timestamp (up to a maximum of 100 entries) locally on your device. You can clear this history or revoke the permission at any time.
Purpose: Used to show an ongoing persistent notification while a background protection mode (Tilt Shield, Pattern Shield, Screen Guard, or Child Lock) is active, providing you with a transparent 1-tap "Turn Off" switch.
Optional Alerts: Used for child session time-out reminders, optional inactivity privacy alerts, and subscription trial reminders.
Data Privacy: This permission is not used to read notifications from other apps.
Purpose: Used for Tilt Privacy (dimming screen when tilted at configured angles), Shake to Panic (triggering instant protection upon shaking), and 3-second neutral viewing angle calibration.
Data Privacy: Sensor readings are processed in real time in memory and never recorded or transmitted.
Purpose: If you enable Privacy Lock or PIN protection for App Settings or Child Lock.
Data Privacy: Fingerprint, Face, and Device PIN authentication is handled securely by Android's native BiometricPrompt framework. The App never accesses, processes, or stores your biometric templates or system lock credentials.
Purpose: The App provides Home Screen Widgets (Child Lock, Tilt Shield, Pattern Shield, Screen Guard) and a Quick Settings Tile for one-tap privacy toggling.
Data Privacy: Widget and Quick Settings interactions communicate locally with the App's foreground service via secure system intents.
Purpose: The App checks for new updates remotely so you always have the latest privacy defenses and security patches.
How it works: On app launch (Start Screen) and when you manually tap "Check for updates" in Settings, the App queries Google Play In-App Updates and Firebase remote configuration to check version numbers and retrieve "What's New" release notes.
Data Privacy: The update check only compares version codes and opens the Google Play Store update flow. It does not transmit any personal data.
The free version of the App integrates trusted Google services to support free functionality, ad measurement, and remote feature configuration:
Google Mobile Ads (AdMob): Displays banner, interstitial, rewarded, and app-open advertisements. May collect pseudonymous device identifiers (e.g., Advertising ID), coarse location inferred from IP address, and ad interaction metrics to deliver and measure relevant ads.
Google User Messaging Platform (UMP): Manages user consent for personalized and non-personalized advertising under GDPR, EEA, UK, and applicable global privacy regulations.
Firebase Analytics: Measures anonymous aggregate application events (e.g., screen views, feature clicks, retention) to diagnose crashes and optimize performance.
Firebase Firestore & Realtime Database: Used as read-only cloud endpoints to fetch remote App configurations (such as ad unit IDs, inactivity timer defaults, and new version release notes). Firebase is never used to upload your screen content, blocked notification history, PINs, or child lock lists.
Google Play Billing: Handles secure in-app purchases, lifetime upgrades, and subscription trials. We receive only transaction tokens and entitlement flags (e.g., premium_active = true); we never see or store your credit card or bank account information.

You have complete control over your permissions and data at any time:

Advertising Choices: Reset your Google Advertising ID or adjust ad personalization in your device’s Google Settings.
Update Settings: Enable or disable "Auto app updates" inside Other Settings.
Manage Subscriptions: Cancel or modify Premium subscriptions at any time via your Google Play account.
Privacy Display includes a parent-controlled Child Lock / Child Mode designed to assist parents in restricting child access to selected apps. The App does not knowingly collect, store, or transmit personal data from children. If you believe any personal data from a child has been unintentionally processed, please contact us immediately.
We apply industry-standard security safeguards. Sensitive Android permissions are requested only on-demand with transparent in-app disclosures. All network communications with Google Play and Firebase are encrypted over secure HTTPS/TLS protocols.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect new features, app updates, or regulatory requirements. Any updates will be posted with a revised “Last updated” date.
