1. INTRODUCTION

This Privacy Policy explains how URL Checker for Google Ads™ (“the Extension,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use the Extension.

URL Checker for Google Ads™ is a local-first Chrome extension that helps users review one Google Ads Final URL configuration for tracking, redirect, destination, and parameter issues before launch.

The Extension does not require an account and does not use a developer-controlled backend, analytics service, advertising network, telemetry system, or tracking service.

URL Checker for Google Ads™ is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Google LLC. Google Ads is a trademark of Google LLC.

2. INFORMATION THE EXTENSION HANDLES

Depending on the features you use, the Extension may handle the following information:

• Final URLs

• Tracking templates

• Final URL suffixes

• Custom parameter names and sample values

• Expected destination hostnames

• Required parameter names

• Supported visible Google Ads URL-field values

• Simulated destination URLs

• Observed redirect URLs

• HTTP status codes

• Network error summaries

• Validation findings and suggested fixes

• Check timestamps

• Extension settings

• One work-in-progress draft

• Up to 20 optional local history records

This information may contain website URLs, form data, campaign-related values, or other content entered or selected by the user.

3. HOW INFORMATION IS USED

The Extension uses information only to provide its user-facing functionality, including:

• Validating one URL configuration

• Assembling a representative destination URL

• Simulating supported ValueTrack and custom parameters

• Identifying structural and tracking issues

• Checking required parameters and expected destinations

• Displaying findings and suggested fixes

• Performing an optional destination request

• Saving an optional local history

• Creating a report requested by the user

Information is not used for advertising, behavioral profiling, credit decisions, marketing, user tracking, or any unrelated purpose.

4. LOCAL STRUCTURAL CHECKS

Structural validation is performed locally on the user’s device.

A structural check does not require website access and does not send the URL configuration to the developer or a developer-controlled server.

The Extension analyzes the entered configuration and generates a representative URL using clearly labeled sample substitutions. This simulation is not a genuine advertisement click.

5. READING VISIBLE GOOGLE ADS FIELDS

The Extension can read supported visible URL-option fields from a Google Ads edit form only after the user selects the relevant tab and clicks “Read current fields.”

This feature:

• Is initiated by the user

• Reads only supported visible URL-option controls

• Does not run automatically

• Does not scan an entire Google Ads account

• Does not collect complete page HTML

• Does not read passwords, hidden fields, email fields, telephone fields, or file inputs

• Does not edit, publish, or submit any Google Ads form

• Allows the user to review and correct every captured value

If the page layout is unsupported, the Extension returns to manual paste mode.

6. OPTIONAL LIVE DESTINATION CHECK

After completing a local structural check, the user may choose to run one optional live destination request.

Before requesting website access, the Extension displays a disclosure explaining what the request does and asks the user to continue.

The live request may send the selected simulated URL to:

• The destination website

• HTTP redirect servers involved in completing the request

These third-party servers may receive or log the URL, IP address, timestamp, and ordinary network metadata according to their own privacy practices.

The live request:

• Uses no existing destination-site cookies

• Uses no Google account credentials

• Does not send authorization headers

• Does not send request bodies

• Does not read response bodies

• Does not execute the response as webpage code

• Records only observable redirect URLs, HTTP status information, timing, the final URL, and network error summaries

The optional request observes HTTP redirects only. It does not reproduce a genuine Google Ads click, JavaScript redirects, meta-refresh navigation, parallel tracking, logged-in website behavior, or analytics receipt.

7. OPTIONAL WEBSITE PERMISSIONS

The Extension’s core structural checker works without website access.

For a live destination check, Chrome may request temporary permission to access HTTP and HTTPS destinations because redirect locations cannot always be known in advance.

This permission is:

• Not granted during installation

• Requested only after an in-product disclosure

• Requested only after the user chooses to continue

• Used for one serialized live check

• Removed when the check ends

The Extension may retain a short-lived, URL-free cleanup record containing a run identifier, cleanup phase, expiration time, and retry count. This technical record exists only to help remove optional permissions after a browser or extension-worker interruption.

If Chrome does not confirm that access was removed, the Extension warns the user and retries cleanup.

8. MANUAL DESTINATION COMPARISON

Users who do not want to grant optional website access can use manual comparison.

In this mode, the Extension opens the simulated URL in a normal browser tab. The user can then paste the final address back into the Extension for comparison.

Manual comparison does not observe HTTP status codes or the ordered redirect chain and does not require optional website-access permission.

9. LOCAL STORAGE AND RETENTION

The Extension uses Chrome’s local extension storage to save:

• Extension settings

• One current draft

• Optional history containing up to 20 recent checks

• Temporary permission-cleanup state

• A non-sensitive numeric deletion marker

The Extension does not use Chrome Sync to transfer this information between devices.

The numeric deletion marker contains no URL, input, finding, preference, personal identifier, or report content. It exists only to prevent another open Extension panel from restoring information after the user deletes local data.

Downloaded reports are files controlled by the user. They are not deleted when the user clears Extension storage.

10. DATA SENT TO THE DEVELOPER

The Extension does not send the following information to the developer:

• URLs

• Tracking templates

• Custom parameters

• Google Ads field values

• Findings

• Redirect information

• Reports

• History

• Browsing activity

• Usage analytics

• Diagnostic telemetry

The Extension has no developer-operated server for receiving this information.

The developer cannot view or recover locally stored Extension data.

11. ANALYTICS, ADVERTISING, AND TRACKING

The Extension does not contain:

• Analytics

• Telemetry

• Advertising

• Tracking pixels

• Behavioral profiling

• Crash-reporting services

• Social-media trackers

• Affiliate tracking

• User-identification systems

The Extension does not monitor browsing activity in the background.

12. SELLING OR SHARING INFORMATION

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share user information.

Information is not used or transferred for:

• Personalized advertising

• Retargeting

• Marketing profiles

• Creditworthiness

• Lending decisions

• Unrelated product development

• Any purpose unrelated to the Extension’s stated functionality

The developer does not permit human review of Extension data because the developer does not receive that data.

13. THIRD-PARTY WEBSITES

When the user runs an optional live check or manually opens a destination, the selected website and its redirect services operate independently from the Extension.

Those websites may process network information according to their own privacy policies. We do not control and are not responsible for the privacy, security, availability, or content of third-party websites.

14. DATA SECURITY

The Extension uses reasonable technical safeguards, including:

• Chrome Extension Manifest V3

• Locally bundled executable code

• No remotely hosted JavaScript

• A restrictive Content Security Policy

• Escaped user and webpage text

• User-triggered permissions

• Credential-free live requests

• Limited local-history retention

• Permission cleanup after live checks

• No developer-controlled data backend

No method of electronic storage or network transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Users should avoid including passwords, authentication tokens, personal identifiers, or other sensitive information in URL parameters.

15. USER CHOICES AND CONTROLS

Users can:

• Run structural checks without website access

• Decline optional live-check permission

• Use manual destination comparison

• Review and correct captured values

• Disable new local-history entries

• Delete individual history records

• Delete all locally stored user data

• Delete downloaded reports manually

• Uninstall the Extension through Chrome

Selecting “Delete all local data” removes locally stored user content. A non-sensitive numeric deletion marker may remain solely to prevent stale data from being restored by another open panel.

16. CHILDREN’S PRIVACY

The Extension is designed for professional advertising and URL-quality-assurance workflows. It is not directed to children under 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children or from any other user because the Extension does not transmit user information to the developer.

17. LEGAL REQUESTS

Because user information is stored locally and is not transmitted to the developer, we generally do not possess user data that could be disclosed in response to a legal request.

Information sent directly to a destination website during an optional live check is subject to that website’s own data-handling and legal obligations.

18. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS

The Extension does not transfer user information to the developer or to developer-controlled servers.

A destination website selected by the user may be hosted in another country. Any network transmission to that destination occurs only as part of the user-requested live check or normal browser navigation and is governed by the destination provider’s policies.

19. CHROME WEB STORE LIMITED USE

The Extension’s use of information received from Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Information obtained through Chrome APIs is used only to provide the Extension’s single user-facing purpose: reviewing one user-selected Google Ads URL configuration and generating related findings and reports.

20. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the Extension, legal requirements, or privacy practices.

When the policy is updated, the “Last updated” date will be revised. Material changes to data handling will also be reflected in the Extension’s disclosures before an updated version is published.
