StudyToPlay ("the app") is developed by Erik Arnesson, SustainMaint AB. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it's used, and your choices.
StudyToPlay is a parental control tool. A parent or guardian installs and configures the app on their child's device. The app itself does not knowingly collect personal information directly from children, and does not require the child to create an account, log in, or provide any personal details.
Stored only on the device (never sent to us):
The child profile name you enter (e.g., "My child")
Your chosen settings: lock interval, questions per unlock, which apps are blocked, your PIN (stored as a one-way hash, never in plain text or sent anywhere)
Generated quiz questions and your answers/progress
Sent to our backend server, to generate quizzes and manage your free trial:
A random device identifier (Android's ANDROID_ID), used only to prevent the same device from repeatedly claiming a new free trial after reinstalling the app
The subject/topic you type in, and the age range you select, when generating a quiz
If you choose to generate a quiz from photos or a PDF, those files are sent to our server and then to Google's Gemini AI service to create quiz questions. They are not stored permanently on our server or by us after the quiz is generated.
We do not collect:
The child's name, photo, location, contacts, or any other personal information about the child
Advertising identifiers, and we do not show ads
Payment information (handled entirely by Google Play if/when you subscribe -- we never see your card details)
Google Gemini API -- processes the subject, age range, and any photos/PDFs you submit, solely to generate quiz questions. Google's own privacy policy applies to this processing: https://policies.google.com/privacy
Cloudflare -- hosts our backend server and stores the device identifier and trial/subscription counters described above. Cloudflare's privacy policy: https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/
Google Play Billing -- if/when you subscribe, payment is processed entirely by Google Play. We never receive your payment card details.
Display over other apps -- needed to show the quiz screen on top of a locked app
Usage access -- needed so the app can detect when the child opens a locked app. This permission is used only for this purpose; we do not use it to track or log general phone usage, and this data never leaves the device
Camera / photo access -- only used if you choose to generate a quiz from a photograph; only used when you actively take or select a photo
This app is designed to be configured and controlled by a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without parental consent, please contact us at [din e-postadress] and we will delete it.
Settings and quiz data stored locally on the device are deleted when you uninstall the app. To request deletion of the device identifier and trial data stored on our server, contact us at asondev@gmail.com
We may update this policy as the app changes. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do.
