Privacy Policy - Mesa Finance

The Mesa Finance app is used for recording and evaluating personal income and expenses. Mesa Finance also offers the possibility to share costs and expenses with multiple users, e.g., with friends, couples, or in shared flats.

What data is collected?

• Email address for authentication

• Name: Users can provide their real name or a nickname if they use Mesa Finance together with others.

• Financial data: Users can enter their income and expenses that they wish to record and analyze in Mesa Finance.

• Usage and Analytics Data (Firebase Analytics): We use Firebase Analytics, a service provided by Google Ireland Limited ("Google"), to understand user behavior in our app and to improve the app. Firebase Analytics collects anonymized or pseudonymized data about the use of the app. This includes:

  • Device information: Device type, operating system version, app version.

  • Usage data: How often and for how long the app is used, which functions within the app are used, crash reports.

  • Coarse location data: Anonymized location information (e.g., country or city) derived from the IP address.

  • Anonymous Installation ID: A random ID to distinguish app installations that cannot be directly traced back to an individual.

For what purpose do we process this data (legal basis)?

• The collection of email address, name, and financial data is carried out to provide the core functionalities of the app (fulfillment of contract).

• The processing of usage and analytics data by Firebase Analytics is based on our legitimate interest (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR) in improving our app, troubleshooting, and optimizing the user experience. We ensure that the data is pseudonymized to protect the privacy of users.

What data is shared?

• Name and financial data, if users wish to share their income and expenses with others. This data is only shared with the joint users.

• Disclosure to Third Parties (Firebase Analytics): To fulfill the aforementioned analytical purposes, pseudonymized usage and device data are transmitted to Google Ireland Limited (Company Number: 368064), Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Google processes this data on our behalf and provides us with reports on the use of our app. Google is committed to complying with data protection regulations.

How is data transferred and stored?

All data is transferred and stored on the server exclusively encrypted.
The data collected by Firebase Analytics is processed and stored in accordance with Google's data protection regulations. The storage period for usage data in Firebase Analytics is limited to 14 months. 

Analytics can be disabled in the app settings.
