This Privacy Policy applies to Aviation METAR TAF Decoder.
## 1. Summary
Aviation METAR TAF Decoder is an aviation weather and training app for informational and educational use.
The app does not require you to create an account.
The app is not intended to collect your name, payment information, or contact list data.
## 2. Important Aviation Notice
This app is not a certified aviation product and must not be used as the sole source for flight planning, dispatch, or operational aviation decisions.
Always verify weather, NOTAM, airport, and operational information with official aviation sources before flight.
## 3. Data The App Processes
The app processes only the data needed to deliver its features, including:
- airport ICAO codes and weather-report text you enter or request
- decoded METAR, TAF, and related aviation-weather results
- saved history, favorites, saved briefings, and study progress stored locally on your device
- app settings such as theme, language, and onboarding acknowledgements
## 4. Local Storage And Offline History
Reports you fetch or decode may be stored locally on your device so you can review them later, including offline.
This may include recent searches, saved decode history, cached weather data, saved briefings, and learning progress.
This locally stored information is intended to remain on your device unless you explicitly share or export it.
## 5. Location Permission
The nearby-airport search feature may request approximate device location.
If granted, the app uses Android coarse location to find nearby airports on-device.
The app does not request background location.
The app does not require exact GPS location for nearby-airport search.
You can deny or revoke location permission in Android Settings and continue using the rest of the app.
## 6. Network Requests
When you fetch live weather, the app sends the airport code you requested to its weather-data providers so they can return METAR or TAF data.
Standard network metadata such as IP address, user agent, or transport-level diagnostics may also be processed by those services.
The app does not intentionally attach your saved history, notes, or personal identity information to those weather requests.
## 7. Third-Party Services
The app currently relies on third-party services such as:
- weather-data providers used by the app for aviation weather retrieval
- Firebase Crashlytics, provided by Google, for production crash diagnostics
- Google Play services location when Android provides approximate device location for nearby-airport search
Those third parties process data under their own terms and privacy policies.
## 8. Crash Diagnostics
Production builds of the app send anonymous crash diagnostics through Firebase Crashlytics so the developer can investigate crashes, ANRs, and severe stability issues.
These diagnostics can include device model, Android version, app version, stack traces, and breadcrumb-style technical logs.
The app does not intentionally send raw saved-history content or your precise location as custom crash-report fields.
If you do not want production crash diagnostics to be sent, do not use the production build of the app.
## 9. Data Sharing
The developer does not sell your personal data.
Data is shared only to the extent needed for the app's weather retrieval, crash diagnostics, location-assisted nearby-airport search, export, and sharing features.
## 10. Data Retention And Deletion
Locally stored data remains on your device until you clear it, uninstall the app, or otherwise remove it.
Crash reports received by Firebase may be retained according to Google's Firebase retention policies.
You can limit stored data by clearing app storage, deleting in-app history, removing location permission, or uninstalling the app.
## 11. Children
The app is not directed to children under 13 and is not intentionally designed to collect personal data from children.
## 12. Changes To This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time.
If a revised version is published, the updated date above will change.
