1. Introduction ScreenAsk is a Chrome browser extension that allows users to take a screenshot of their current browser tab and ask questions about it using AI. This Privacy Policy explains what data is processed, how it is used, and your rights as a user.
2. Data We Collect ScreenAsk does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to our servers. The extension processes the following data locally on your device:
Screenshots of your active browser tab — captured only when you explicitly trigger the extension
Questions you type into the chat interface
Your API key (Anthropic or OpenRouter) — stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage API
Preferences such as font size — stored locally on your device
3. How Your Data Is Used When you submit a question, ScreenAsk sends the following data directly to the AI provider you have configured:
The screenshot of your active tab
Your typed question
This data is sent directly from your browser to the API endpoint of your chosen provider. ScreenAsk does not act as an intermediary and does not receive or store this data.
4. Third-Party Services Depending on which AI provider you configure, your data is processed by one of the following third parties:
Anthropic (api.anthropic.com) — subject to Anthropic's Privacy Policy at anthropic.com/privacy
OpenRouter (openrouter.ai) — subject to OpenRouter's Privacy Policy at openrouter.ai/privacy
5. Data Storage ScreenAsk stores the following data locally on your device using Chrome's storage API:
Your API key(s)
Your selected AI provider
UI preferences (font size, language)
This data never leaves your device except as described in Section 3. It is not accessible to the developer of ScreenAsk.
6. Data Sharing ScreenAsk does not sell, share, or disclose your data to any third party, except as required to provide the core functionality of the extension as described above.
7. Children's Privacy ScreenAsk is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
8. Changes to This Policy We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this document.
