ScentVault is a mobile application that helps users organize, track, scan, and manage their perfume collection and wishlist.
This Privacy Policy explains what information ScentVault collects, how it is used, and how users can contact us.
ScentVault may collect and process the following information:
Account Information:
Email address used for login and account creation through Firebase Authentication.
Perfume Collection Data:
Perfume names, brands, ratings, seasons, vibes, wishlist items, notes, batch codes, scan results, and fragrance profile information manually entered or saved by the user.
Images:
Users may select or capture perfume photos for perfume recognition.
Images are sent to our backend service only for the purpose of perfume recognition.
Images are not used to identify the user.
Images are not sold.
AI Recognition Data:
When a user scans a perfume, the image may be processed by an AI service to identify the perfume, extract visible text, suggest possible matches, and generate fragrance profile information.
Device and App Data:
The app may process basic technical data required for app functionality, authentication, storage, and backend communication.
We use collected information to:
Allow users to create and access their ScentVault account.
Save and sync perfume collections and wishlists.
Recognize perfumes from images.
Display fragrance information and possible perfume matches.
Improve app functionality, reliability, and user experience.
Provide support when requested by the user.
ScentVault uses third-party services to operate the app:
Firebase:
Used for authentication and cloud database storage.
User account and perfume collection data may be stored in Firebase.
OpenAI:
Used to process perfume images and generate recognition results.
Images and related prompts may be sent to OpenAI only for the purpose of perfume recognition and fragrance information generation.
Render:
Used to host the ScentVault backend API.
These services may process data according to their own privacy policies and security practices.
ScentVault does not sell user data.
We may share data only with service providers required for app functionality, such as Firebase, OpenAI, and Render.
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the security and integrity of the app.
ScentVault stores user perfume data in Firebase Firestore under the user's authenticated account.
Some data may also be stored locally on the user's device to improve app performance and offline access.
We use reasonable technical measures to protect user data. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.
Users can edit or delete perfumes and wishlist items inside the app.
If a user wants their account and associated data deleted, they can contact us using the support email below.
ScentVault is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
