Qanary is a privacy-first QR and barcode scanner. In plain language: Qanary is built to work on your device, and we do not collect, sell, or share your personal data.

The short version

• No account. You don't sign up to use Qanary.

• No tracking. No advertising, no analytics, no third-party tracking SDKs.

• On-device by design. Scanning and safety checks happen on your device.

• We run no servers that receive your data.

1. Who we are

2. What Qanary stores, and where

Everything you create in Qanary is stored locally on your device: your scan history, favorites, notes, generated codes, saved PDF documents, and settings. We do not receive copies of any of this, and nothing is uploaded to us or any third-party server.

3. Device permissions

Qanary asks for a permission only when a feature needs it:

• Camera — to scan QR codes and barcodes, and to capture documents/business cards. Images are processed on your device and are not uploaded.

• Photo Library — only the specific photos you choose to scan, or to save codes/pages you export. Your library is not read in the background.

• Contacts — Qanary adds a contact only when you explicitly choose to save one from a scanned business card or QR code. Qanary does not read your existing contacts.

You can review or revoke any permission in iOS Settings → Qanary.

4. The one optional online feature

By default, Qanary makes no network requests. There is a single, clearly labeled, off-by-default feature called "Online safety checks." If you turn it on and then explicitly tap "Reveal final destination" on a shortened link, Qanary sends only that one link to resolve where it goes. It reads only the destination address — it does not load the page's content, scripts, or trackers. Nothing else about you or your device is ever sent.

5. Purchases

Qanary Pro is a one-time in-app purchase handled entirely by Apple's App Store (StoreKit). We never see or store your payment details.

6. Data we do NOT collect

We do not collect your name, email, contacts, location, advertising identifier, or the contents of your scans. We do not build a profile of you, and we do not sell or share data — because we don't have it.

7. Children's privacy

Qanary is safe for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

8. Security

Because your data stays on your device (protected by iOS), there is no central database of user data to breach. PDF documents you create can be optionally password-protected on your device.

9. Changes

If we update this policy, we will change the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, note it in the app or its App Store release notes.
