Lingozu: Language Learning ("Lingozu", "the app") is developed by ApeHero ("we", "us", "our"). Lingozu helps people learn English, Chinese, and Spanish. The app is distributed exclusively through Google Play for Android devices. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, who it is shared with, and what choices you have.
By using the app, you agree to the practices described in this policy. Lingozu is intended for adults aged 18 and over.
Lingozu does not require an account. There is no registration, sign-in, username, or password. We do not ask for your name, email address, or phone number, and the app has no social features — nothing about you is ever shown to another user.
Learning progress (stored on your device). Your lessons completed, scores, streaks, vocabulary studied, and settings are saved locally in the app's storage on your Android device. This information is not transmitted to us and is not linked to your identity. If you uninstall the app or clear its data, this progress is permanently erased and cannot be recovered by you or by us.
Device and usage data. The app automatically collects technical information including device model, Android version, app version, language and region settings, a randomly generated app instance identifier, your Google Advertising ID, crash and error logs, and IP address. It also collects analytics events describing how the app is used, such as which screens are opened and which lessons are started or completed. IP addresses are retained for no more than 30 days unless we need them longer to investigate fraud or abuse or to comply with a legal obligation.
Purchases. If the app offers in-app purchases or a subscription, the transaction is processed entirely by Google Play Billing. We receive confirmation of the purchase and its status. We never receive or store your card number, bank details, or billing address.
Notifications. With your permission, Lingozu sends push notifications such as practice reminders. You can turn these off at any time in the app settings or in your Android notification settings.
Support emails. If you choose to contact us by email, we will have your email address and whatever you write to us. We use it only to answer you and delete the correspondence once it is no longer needed.
What we do not collect. Lingozu does not include speaking or pronunciation exercises and does not request microphone or camera access. We do not collect voice recordings, photographs, contacts, calendar data, SMS messages, or precise location data.
We use two Google Firebase services to understand how the app performs.
Firebase Analytics collects event-level information about how Lingozu is used — for example, how many learners finish a given lesson, or where in the app people stop. This helps us decide what to improve.
Firebase Crashlytics collects crash reports containing the device state at the time of the crash, the app version, the Android version, and a stack trace, so we can find and fix bugs.
Both services identify your installation by a randomly generated app instance identifier, not by any name, email address, or account. Google's privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy.
Lingozu displays advertising through Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, AdMob and its partners may collect your Google Advertising ID, IP address, device and Android version information, and data about the ads you see and interact with. Google may use this information to show ads based on your interests, to limit how often you see the same ad, and to detect invalid traffic.
You can control this in your device settings under Settings → Google → Ads, where you can turn on "Opt out of Ads Personalisation" or delete your advertising ID entirely.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we present a consent dialog through Google's User Messaging Platform before any personalized advertising is served. You can reopen that dialog and change your choice at any time using the privacy option in the app settings. If you decline, you will still see advertising, but it will be non-personalized.
Opting out does not remove advertising from the app; it only makes the ads less relevant to you.
We process the information described above to operate and maintain the app, deliver lesson content, diagnose crashes and fix bugs, understand which features help people learn, deliver notifications you have opted into, serve and measure advertising, respond to support requests, detect fraud and abuse, and comply with our legal obligations.
For users in the EU, EEA, and UK, our legal bases under the GDPR are: our legitimate interests, for security, crash diagnostics, fraud prevention, and product improvement; your consent, for push notifications and personalized advertising; and compliance with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising beyond what is described in Section 4.
We share information only with:
Google, as our infrastructure and advertising provider. Firebase provides analytics, crash reporting, and content delivery; AdMob provides advertising; Google Play processes any purchases. Google processes this data under its own terms and, for the Firebase services, acts as our processor.
Legal and safety recipients, where required by law or a valid request from a competent authority, or where necessary to protect our rights and property, prevent fraud or abuse, or protect someone from imminent harm.
A successor entity, if ApeHero is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. We will notify users before information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
We may also publish or use aggregated and anonymized data, such as the average time learners take to finish a Spanish course, which cannot be linked back to any individual.
Because Lingozu has no accounts, we hold very little information that could identify you, and in most cases we cannot connect the data we receive to a particular person. This limits both the risk to you and our ability to act on individual requests.
You can nevertheless exercise meaningful control at any time. To erase everything the app has stored about your learning, uninstall Lingozu or clear its data in Settings → Apps → Lingozu → Storage → Clear data. To stop advertising personalization, use the device controls in Section 4 or reset your advertising ID, which severs the link to any past advertising data. To stop analytics and crash reporting, uninstall the app.
If you believe we hold personal data about you and want to access, correct, or delete it, or if you want to object to our processing, email nangluongxanhbacgiang@gmail.com with enough detail for us to locate the data — normally your advertising ID and the approximate dates involved. We respond within 30 days. We may decline a request where we cannot verify that the data relates to you, or where fulfilling it would violate the law or another person's rights.
If you are in the EU, EEA, or UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.
If you are a California resident, the CCPA as amended by the CPRA gives you the right to know what categories of personal information we collect and why, to delete and correct it, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information for money. To the extent that AdMob's use of the Google Advertising ID constitutes "sharing" under California law, you can opt out using the device controls in Section 4. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
Learning progress remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. Analytics and crash data follow Firebase's default retention periods and are not linked to any account. IP addresses are kept for no more than 30 days. Records of purchases are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires. Anonymized and aggregated data may be retained indefinitely.
We protect the information we receive using encryption in transit (TLS) and encryption at rest on Google's infrastructure, with internal access limited to those who need it. Because the app has no accounts and stores your progress locally, the security of that progress also depends on the security of your own device. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects personal data, we will notify affected users and the relevant authorities as required by applicable law.
Lingozu is intended for users aged 18 and over and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that we have, we will delete it. If you believe a minor's personal information has been provided to us, contact us at nangluongxanhbacgiang@gmail.com and we will remove it promptly.
The app and the advertisements it displays may link to third-party websites. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. When you follow such a link, that third party's own privacy policy governs any information you provide.
ApeHero is based in Vietnam. The data we receive is processed on Google's Firebase infrastructure, which operates data centers in the United States and other countries that may not provide the same level of data protection as your country of residence. Where personal data of users in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland is transferred, we and Google rely on the Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission or another lawful transfer mechanism.
We also process personal data in accordance with Vietnam's Decree No. 13/2023/ND-CP on Personal Data Protection where it applies.
The app does not respond to "Do Not Track" signals, as there is currently no common industry standard for interpreting them. The controls described in Sections 3, 4, and 7 remain available to you.
We may update this policy to reflect changes to the app, our service providers, or applicable law. We will revise the "Last updated" date above, and for material changes we will give notice within the app before those changes take effect.
