At Jupiter, protecting the privacy and security of our users, including parents, students, and school administrators, is a top priority. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, and share information through our app in compliance with applicable privacy laws and Google Play’s Data Safety requirements.
We collect a variety of information to provide the services offered by Jupiter. This information is critical to the app’s core functionality and is necessary to facilitate communication between schools and parents.
a. Personal Information
We collect the following personal information:
Phone Numbers: Used for user registration, verification, and communication via notifications.
Student Information: This includes student names, attendance records, exam results, fee payment history, and disciplinary reports. It is entered by schools into our system and made available to parents.
Date of Birth (DOB): We collect DOB information for students to ensure accurate school records and age-specific notifications, such as class assignments and exam schedules.
Parents’ Email Addresses: Collected during registration and used for account recovery, communication, and notifications.
b. Sensitive Information
No sensitive data such as health or biometric data is collected directly, except where schools input such information (e.g., for health accommodations), and it is processed only as required by the school in compliance with local regulations.
c. Device Information
Automatically collected device data includes:
Device Type and Operating System (OS): To ensure compatibility and app performance.
Unique Device Identifiers (e.g., IMEI, Device IDs): For internal analytics, security, and troubleshooting.
Mobile Network Information: Ensures communication between parents and schools.
d. Usage Data
We collect data related to how users interact with the app, including:
Interaction Data: Pages visited, features used (e.g., checking attendance, fees), and time spent in the app.
Log Information: Including IP addresses, timestamps, crash logs, and error reports to improve performance.
e. Location Data
We do not collect precise location data unless users enable location-based services, such as mapping nearby schools. This data is used only for those purposes.
The information collected is used for the following purposes:
Providing Services: We use phone numbers, email addresses, and student information (including DOB) to ensure seamless communication between schools and parents and to facilitate access to relevant student data (e.g., exam schedules, attendance records).
Notifications: Parents’ email addresses and phone numbers are used to send important notifications from schools, such as updates on attendance, fees, and announcements.
Data Storage: All data entered by schools, including student records, DOB, and parent email addresses, is securely stored in our backend system, built on Salesforce. Salesforce is used as our database and portal system for schools to enter, manage, and access student data.
Improving the App: We analyze usage data and device information to enhance the app’s functionality and resolve technical issues.
