IngredientCheck ("EetGezond") is an Android application developed for personal use to scan product barcodes and analyse ingredient safety. This privacy policy explains what data the app uses, how it is handled, and your rights as a user.
IngredientCheck does not:
Create or require user accounts
Collect your name, email address, or any personal identifiers
Track your location
Contain advertising or advertising trackers
Share any personal data with third parties
Upload any data to our servers (we have none)
The following information is stored locally on your device only and never transmitted:
Personal allergies you enter manually
Health and lifestyle profile settings (e.g. pregnancy, keto, vegan)
Your personal ingredient blacklist
Your favourite products
Your recent scan history (last 20 products)
This data is encrypted on your device using Android's AES-256 encryption standard. It is excluded from Google cloud backup. You can delete all stored data at any time by uninstalling the app or using the "Clear data" option in your Android settings.
The app requests access to your camera solely to scan product barcodes. No photos or images are captured, stored, or transmitted. The camera feed is processed entirely on-device in real time and discarded immediately after a barcode is detected.
When you scan or search for a product, the barcode or search term is sent to the following public third-party databases to retrieve ingredient information:

Only the barcode number or product name is transmitted — no personal information, health data, or device identifiers are ever included in these requests.
The app allows you to set health profiles (such as pregnancy, breastfeeding, child, elderly) and lifestyle modes (such as keto, vegan, or allergen-free). This information:
Is stored only on your device
Is never transmitted externally
Is used only to filter and highlight ingredients within the app

This app does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has entered personal information into the app, please contact us and we will assist you in removing it locally.
All locally stored data is encrypted using Android's EncryptedSharedPreferences (AES-256-GCM). The app enforces HTTPS-only network connections and does not permit cleartext traffic.
Because we store no personal data on external servers, there is no data to request, correct, or delete from our side. You have full control over all data through your device's app settings.
If this privacy policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
