PRIVACY POLICY
Last Updated: October 1, 2026
INTRODUCTION
HeyDance ("we", "our", or "the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our application.
1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
Device Information:
• Device ID: A unique identifier generated for your device to provide authentication
• App version and platform information
• Push notification token (if you enable notifications)
Camera and Photos:
• Camera access (earlier app versions with AI Studio only): Used solely to capture photos as reference images for AI generation. Photos taken are processed on-device and sent to our servers only when you initiate a generation. We do not record video or access the camera in the background. Version 6.1 and later do not use the camera.
• Original photos you upload or capture: Sent to our cloud servers for AI processing. Automatically deleted within 24 hours after upload.
• Reference videos you upload for Create Dance: Sent to our cloud servers and used only as the motion reference for your video and for the automated content safety check described below. Automatically deleted within 24 hours after upload.
• AI-generated images and videos: Stored permanently in your account until you manually delete them
• Generation history: Task status, timestamps, and associated metadata
Usage Information:
• Credit balance and transaction history
• Subscription status and purchase records
Advertising and Analytics Information:
• Advertising identifier (IDFA): Collected only with your explicit consent via the App Tracking Transparency prompt. Used for measuring advertising campaign effectiveness through Meta (Facebook) SDK.
• App event data: Limited app event data (such as app activations, content views, and purchase events) is shared with Meta (Facebook) for advertising attribution and campaign measurement. No photos, generated content, or personal identity is shared.
• Apple Ads attribution: We use Apple's AdServices framework to measure Apple Search Ads campaign performance. Attribution data (campaign, ad group, keyword, and country) is collected and stored with your device-based account for advertising analytics.
• SKAdNetwork: Apple's privacy-preserving ad attribution framework is used regardless of your tracking consent. No personal data is shared through SKAdNetwork.
Information We Do NOT Collect:
• No personal identification (name, email, phone number)
• No location tracking
• No social media connections
• No contact list access
• No behavioral analytics or individual usage tracking beyond advertising attribution
2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
We use collected information for the following purposes:
• Service Delivery: Use your photos as identity references to generate brand new AI-powered images and videos (Templates and Create Dance; AI Studio in earlier app versions)
• Content Safety: Automatically check every photo you upload (and the reference video you upload for Create Dance) before generation, and every generated image or video before it is delivered, for prohibited content (such as nudity, sexual or intimate content, or violence). Uploads that do not pass are not processed and no credits are used; results that do not pass are not delivered and your credits are refunded
• Account Management: Manage your device-based account, credits, and subscriptions
• Notifications: Send push notifications when your generations are complete (only if enabled)
• Service Improvement: Use aggregated, non-personal generation success and failure rates to maintain and improve service reliability (we do not track individual user behavior)
• Customer Support: Respond to your inquiries and technical issues
• Transaction Processing: Handle purchases through Apple In-App Purchase system
3. DATA STORAGE AND SECURITY
• Your data is stored securely on cloud infrastructure with industry-standard encryption
• Generated images and videos are stored with unique identifiers accessible only to you
• We use secure CDN (Content Delivery Network) for fast and reliable image delivery
• Original uploaded photos are processed and may be temporarily stored for generation purposes
• All data transmission uses HTTPS encryption
• Access to your data is restricted to authorized systems and personnel only
4. AI PROCESSING AND THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
Important: Your photos are shared with third-party AI service providers for processing. Before your first generation, the App asks for your explicit permission. You can withdraw it at any time in Settings > AI Photo Processing, and the App will ask again before any photo is shared.
• Your photos are transmitted to third-party cloud-based AI services that operate independently from HeyDance.
• AI model providers: Google (Nano Banana, Veo), OpenAI (GPT Image), Kuaishou (Kling), and PixVerse (effect templates). Earlier app versions that include AI Studio also send requests to ByteDance (Seedance, Seedream) and MiniMax (H3).
• Your request is delivered to these models through API service providers that act on our behalf and are bound by the same restrictions described in this section.
• These third-party AI services process your photos solely to generate the images or videos you requested. They do not use your photos for any other purpose, including AI model training.
• We do not sell, license, or otherwise share your photos with any party for marketing or advertising purposes.
• Third-party processors are contractually required to delete your photos immediately after generation completes and not retain any copies.
• Original photos are automatically deleted from our own servers within 24 hours after upload.
4.1 FACE DATA SPECIFIC DISCLOSURES
When you upload photos that may contain facial images:
Collection:
• We collect photos that may include faces, but do NOT extract facial recognition metrics (such as face embeddings, biometric identifiers, or face mapping data). Photos are processed as complete images only.
No Long-Term Retention:
• Original uploaded photos containing face data are NOT retained. They are automatically and permanently deleted from our servers within 24 hours after upload. Generated artistic images are stored, but these are transformations, not the original face data.
Third-Party Processing:
Photos are transmitted to cloud-based AI service providers for the sole purpose of generating brand new images or videos using your photos as identity references, and of automatically checking uploads and generated results for prohibited content:
• Templates: Uses 1-2 photos to generate images or videos in the style of the template you choose (such as themed photo, dance, and special-effect templates). The available templates change over time
• Create Dance: Uses 1 photo and a dance video you pick or upload to animate the person in your photo with the same moves
• Content safety check: Every photo you upload (and the reference video you upload for Create Dance) is checked automatically by an AI model for prohibited content before generation, and every generated image or video is checked before it is delivered to you. Uploads that do not pass are not processed and no credits are used; results that do not pass are not delivered, and your credits are refunded
• AI Studio (earlier app versions only): Uses uploaded photos with text prompts to generate images and videos via AI models
Third-Party Storage Practices:
• These third-party services temporarily hold photos ONLY during active processing (typically 2-10 minutes). They do NOT store face data after generation completes. Photos are processed in isolated, encrypted environments and immediately discarded upon completion.
Why We Share:
• Face data must be shared with AI processing services because generating artistic transformations requires analyzing the original photos. This is a technical necessity - without sending photos to AI services, the core functionality of the app cannot work.
Processing Duration:
• Third-party services retain photos only for the minimum time necessary to complete generation (usually under 10 minutes), then automatically delete them. There is no long-term storage, archival, or reuse of your photos by third parties.
What Happens to Face Data:
• Your original photos → Sent to AI service → Processed into artistic images → Original deleted by third party → Our servers delete within 24h → You receive only the generated artistic image
5. DATA SHARING AND DISCLOSURE
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information for purposes unrelated to the App's functionality. We may share data in the following circumstances:
Advertising Partners:
• We share limited app event and purchase attribution data with Meta (Facebook) for advertising measurement and campaign optimization, and, only with your explicit consent, your device's advertising identifier (IDFA). We also use Apple's AdServices framework to measure Apple Search Ads performance. We do NOT share your photos, generated content, generation history, name, email, or account details with advertising partners.
• You can control advertising data sharing by responding to the App Tracking Transparency prompt when you first open the App, or by adjusting your privacy settings in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
Other Disclosures:
• Legal Requirements: If required by law, court order, or government request
• Service Providers: With trusted providers who assist in app operations (under strict confidentiality agreements)
• Business Transfers: In case of merger, acquisition, or asset sale (you will be notified)
• Protection of Rights: To protect our rights, property, or safety, and that of our users
6. DATA RETENTION
• Original uploaded photos: Automatically deleted from our servers within 24 hours after upload
• AI-generated images and videos: Stored permanently until you manually delete them individually, or use 'Delete All Content' to remove all at once
• Results that do not pass the content safety check: Not delivered to you. A copy may be kept for up to 24 hours so we can review the check, then it is automatically deleted
• Generation history: Maintained indefinitely to provide access to your generated content
• Transaction records: Retained as required for accounting and legal purposes
• Device data: Remains accessible if you reinstall the app on the same device
7. YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS
You have the following rights regarding your data:
• Access: View your generation history and account information within the app
• Deletion: Delete individual generated images/videos from your history
• Delete All Content: Use the 'Delete All Content' feature in Settings to permanently delete all generated images and videos from both your device and our servers
• Device Data: Since the app uses device-based authentication, uninstalling the app does not automatically delete server data. Use 'Delete All Content' before uninstalling for complete removal
• Notifications: Enable or disable push notifications at any time in settings
• Opt-Out: Stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it
8. PUSH NOTIFICATIONS
• We use Apple Push Notification Service (APNs) to notify you when generations complete
• Notifications are optional and can be disabled in iOS Settings or app settings
• We do not send promotional or marketing notifications
• Notification tokens are stored securely and used only for sending updates
9. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
• The App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13
• We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13
• If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with information, we will delete it immediately
• Parents who believe their child has provided information should contact us for deletion
10. CALIFORNIA PRIVACY RIGHTS (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights:
• Right to Know: Request information about data we collect, use, and share
• Right to Delete: Request deletion of your personal information
• Right to Opt-Out: We do not sell personal information
• Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights
11. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS
Your data may be stored and processed in data centers located in various countries, including but not limited to the United States and China. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your information to countries outside your country of residence, which may have different data protection laws.
We take reasonable measures to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy regardless of where it is processed.
12. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will notify you of significant changes through the App. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
13. CONTACT US
If you have questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or your data, please contact us:

We will respond to your inquiries within a reasonable timeframe (typically within 48 hours).
