Overview
StripPii is available on macOS, iPad, and iPhone and is designed to redact personally identifiable information (PII) from documents and images. This privacy policy explains how StripPii handles your data.
No Data Collection
StripPii does not collect, store, transmit, or share any data about you or your documents. Specifically:
- We do not collect personal information
- We do not collect usage data or analytics
- We do not collect crash logs or diagnostic data
- We do not track how you use the app
- We do not have access to any documents or images you process
Your Documents and Images Stay on Your Device
All document and image processing happens entirely on your device. Your documents and images never leave your device. We have no servers, no cloud storage, and no ability to access your files.
StripPii makes no network requests of any kind and holds no network entitlement. It is technically incapable of sending your documents anywhere. This applies across all platforms: macOS, iPad, and iPhone.
In-App Purchase
StripPii offers a one-time Pro upgrade via Apple's in-app purchase system. All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple. We do not receive or store any payment information. Apple's privacy policy governs the purchase transaction and can be found at https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy
AI Detection
On devices that support Apple Intelligence, StripPii uses Apple's on-device Foundation Models as an additional detection pass. This runs locally on your device, like everything else in the app - no text is sent to Apple or to us.
On devices without Apple Intelligence, StripPii's own on-device detection is used instead. Nothing about the privacy guarantees above changes either way.
Third-Party Services and Software
StripPii uses no third-party services. Nothing is sent to anyone.
The app does include software that runs entirely on your device and transmits nothing:
- Apple's Vision framework - for OCR text recognition and image processing
- Apple's Natural Language framework - for text analysis
- Apple's PDFKit - for PDF processing
- Apple's StoreKit - for in-app purchase
- A detection model, included in the app, for recognising names, addresses and other personal details
- Several open-source Swift libraries

No analytics tools, tracking libraries, advertising SDKs, or crash reporters are used.
Children's Privacy
StripPii does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.
Changes to This Policy
If we make changes to this privacy policy we will update the date at the top of this page after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
