Shortext ("we," "our," or "the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our Android application.

1. Important: Accessibility Service Usage

Core Functionality Notice: Shortext uses the Accessibility Service API to provide its core functionality: text expansion and shortcuts.

• How it is used: The service monitors text input fields as you type to detect your custom "trigger" keywords (e.g., /addr). When a trigger is detected, the App replaces it with your predefined snippet or action.

• Privacy Commitment: We take your privacy very seriously.

  • We DO NOT collect, store, or transmit any text you type.

  • We DO NOT monitor sensitive fields such as password inputs or credit card numbers.

  • The service works strictly locally on your device to facilitate text replacement.

  • The Accessibility Service is only active when you explicitly enable it in your device settings.

2. Information We Collect

We generally do not collect personal data. However, the App may interact with the following types of information:

• User-Defined Rules: Your snippets, categories, and settings are stored locally on your device in private storage.

• AI Data (Optional): If you use the "Ask AI" feature, the text you explicitly provide to the AI command is sent to Google Gemini (via API) to generate a response. This is only done at your request.

• Location Data (Optional): If you use the "Send Location" shortcut, the App accesses your GPS coordinates locally to generate a Google Maps link. This data is never sent to our servers.

3. Third-Party Services

Shortext uses the following third-party services which may collect data according to their own policies:

• Google Play Billing: Used for processing "Pro" version purchases. Google handles your payment information securely; we never see your credit card details.

• Google Gemini API: If you use the AI features, your queries are processed by Google's AI infrastructure strictly at your request.

• Google Maps: Used to generate location links if you trigger the location shortcut.

4. Data Security & Storage

Because Shortext stores your shortcuts and notes locally on your device, your data is as secure as your phone.

If you use the "Export Backup" feature, the resulting file is managed entirely by you and can be stored wherever you choose.

5. Children's Privacy

Shortext is not designed for or marketed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

6. Your Rights & Control

You have full control over your data within the App. You can:

• Delete any shortcut or category at any time.

• Clear all App data via Android System Settings.

• Revoke Accessibility permissions at any time.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the App's "About" section.
