Privacy Policy for Sherlock Face Search
Effective date: June 23, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Sherlock Face Search ("the app", "we", "our", or "us") handles information when you use the mobile application. This policy is intended to help users understand what data may be processed, why it may be processed, and what choices are available.
1. Overview
Sherlock Face Search is a photo-based entertainment and utility app. The app lets users select an image from the gallery or capture a new image with the camera, crop the face area, and run an in-app simulated search experience. The app displays scan progress, social-profile-style result screens, and retry guidance when the photo is not clear enough.
The app does not require users to create an account, register, sign in, or provide a name, email address, phone number, password, or profile information.
2. Photos and Camera Images
The app may access photos or the camera only when you choose to use those features.
Photos selected from the gallery and photos captured with the camera are used to provide the app experience, including cropping, previewing, scanning animation, and result display. The app does not operate its own face recognition server and does not upload user photos to an app-owned API.
Depending on your Android version, the app may use the Android photo picker, gallery selection, or camera permission. You can deny or revoke permissions in your device settings. If you do not allow camera access, the camera feature may not work, but other app features may still be available.
3. Information We Do Not Ask For
The app does not ask users to submit account registration data. We do not ask for:
- Name
- Email address
- Phone number
- Password
- Government ID
- Payment card details
- Address book or contacts
- User-created account profile
4. Advertising and Monetization
The app uses Appodeal and advertising partners to display interstitial ads. Advertising SDKs may collect or process certain information for ad delivery, ad measurement, fraud prevention, frequency capping, reporting, analytics, and compliance.
This information may include:
- Advertising ID or similar device identifiers
- IP address and approximate location inferred from network data
- Device type, operating system, language, app version, and network information
- Ad impressions, clicks, views, and interactions
- Diagnostic information, crash-related data, and performance data
- Consent or privacy preference signals where applicable
Advertising partners may process this information according to their own privacy policies and data processing terms. We do not control every processing activity performed by third-party advertising networks.
5. Third-Party SDKs and Services
The app may include third-party SDKs used for advertising and app functionality. These may include Appodeal mediation and supported ad network adapters such as Google AdMob, Meta Audience Network, AppLovin, Unity Ads, DT Exchange, Mintegral, BidMachine, Vungle/Liftoff, and related advertising or measurement components.
Third-party SDKs may receive information from your device when ads are requested or shown. This is primarily used to provide ads, measure ad performance, detect invalid traffic, prevent fraud, and comply with legal requirements.
6. Remote Configuration
The app may contact an HTTPS-hosted remote JSON configuration file to check app status. This feature can be used to show an app update or replacement app message if needed.
The remote configuration request is used for app status and redirect information. The app is configured to use HTTPS for this connection.
7. Data Security
We take reasonable steps to protect app-controlled network traffic. The app is configured to disable cleartext HTTP traffic and to use HTTPS for remote configuration.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Third-party SDKs may process data according to their own security practices.
8. Data Retention
The app does not maintain a user account database. Photos selected or captured for the in-app experience are not stored by us on a remote server.
Some temporary files or cached images may be stored locally by Android or by the app while providing the feature. You can remove app data by clearing the app storage or uninstalling the app.
Advertising partners may retain advertising, measurement, and diagnostic information according to their own retention policies.
9. User Choices and Controls
You can manage your choices through your device settings, including:
- Camera permission
- Photo/media access where applicable
- Advertising ID reset or deletion
- Ad personalization settings
- App data clearing
- App uninstall
Some regions may provide additional consent prompts or privacy choices through the advertising SDKs.
10. Children's Privacy
The app is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us so we can review the issue.
11. International Users
Advertising and SDK providers may process information on servers located in different countries. By using the app, you understand that third-party providers may process data according to their own policies and applicable law.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we update it, we will change the effective date above. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
