# Privacy Policy for Scanly
This Privacy Policy describes how Scanly (“we”, “the app”) handles information when you use the mobile application.
---
## 1. Overview
Scanly is a barcode and QR code scanner that stores your scan history **locally on your device**. We designed the app so that you stay in control of your data: you can add, edit, delete, or clear all entries at any time.
---
## 2. Information we collect
### 2.1 Data you create
- Barcode / QR code values you scan or enter manually
- Optional notes you attach to scans
- Timestamps related to when entries are created or updated
This data is saved on your device using on-device storage (SharedPreferences). It is **not** uploaded to our servers.
### 2.2 Device permissions
- **Camera:** Used only to scan barcodes and QR codes in real time. Camera frames are processed on-device for detection and are not stored or transmitted by Scanly for advertising or profiling.
- **Share sheet / clipboard:** Used when you choose to copy or share a code. Sharing is initiated by you.
### 2.3 Data we do not collect
Scanly does **not** require an account and does **not** intentionally collect:
- Name, email, or phone number
- Precise location
- Contacts or photos (except if you explicitly use an OS share flow)
- Advertising IDs for tracking across apps
- Analytics or crash-reporting personal profiles (unless you later integrate a third-party SDK; none are required by the core app)
---
## 3. How we use information
On-device scan data is used solely to:
- Show your scan history inside the app
- Let you search, edit, copy, share, or delete entries
- Let you export or clear your library from Settings
---
## 4. Data storage and retention
- Scan history remains on your device until you delete individual items or use **Clear history**.
- Uninstalling the app typically removes locally stored app data, subject to your device OS behavior.
- We do not operate a cloud backup of your Scanly history.
---
## 5. Sharing of information
We do not sell your personal information.
Codes are shared with third-party apps **only when you tap Share / Export** and choose a destination (for example Messages, Mail, or Files). Those destinations are governed by their own privacy policies.
---
## 6. Children’s privacy
Scanly is a general-audience utility and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided data through the app, clear the history or uninstall the app to remove local entries.
---
## 7. Security
Because data stays on your device, protection depends on your device lock screen, OS updates, and physical security. We recommend keeping your device updated and using a passcode or biometric lock.
---
## 8. Third-party services
Core Scanly functionality uses on-device scanning and local storage. Platform services (camera, share sheet) are provided by Android / iOS. If future versions add optional cloud or analytics services, this policy will be updated before those features ship.
---
## 9. Your choices and controls
You can:
- ✅ Add scans manually or via camera
- ✏️ Edit codes and notes
- 🗑️ Delete individual entries
- 🧹 Clear all history
- 📋 Copy codes to the clipboard
- 📤 Share / export your list
---
## 10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
---
