Welcome to Lingro! We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring a safe, educational environment for users of all ages, including children.
1. Information We Collect We only collect the absolute minimum data required to make the mobile application function properly:
Account Data: To synchronize your vocabulary vault across devices, we collect your email address and secure login credentials. If you choose to log in using third-party authentication services (such as Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In), we collect the email address and name associated with that provider to securely create your account.
Learning Progress: We store your earned XP, daily streaks, and specific vocabulary interactions. This data strictly powers our Spaced Repetition System (SRS) to ensure you never lose your progress.
User-Generated Text Inputs: We collect the raw text or vocabulary words that you actively type or select within the app to facilitate translation and audio generation features.
2. How We Use Your Data Your data is used exclusively for your personal learning experience. We process your account data to maintain your profile and your text inputs to generate educational content. We do not track your activity across the internet, we do not sell your personal information to third parties, and we do not use your data for targeted advertising.
3. Third-Party Services and AI Providers To provide dynamic visual flashcards, rich definitions, and high-quality Text-to-Speech (TTS) audio, Lingro shares specific, limited data with secure third-party AI processors, explicitly including Microsoft Azure Cognitive Services and Google Cloud AI.
What Data is Sent: We securely transmit only the raw text inputs (e.g., specific vocabulary words or phrases you type) to these providers.
Purpose of Sharing: This text is sent solely in real-time to generate educational audio and dynamic definitions.
Data Protection and Privacy: Your personal identity (name, email), account details, and learning progress are never shared with these external AI services. We confirm that Microsoft and Google provide the same or equal protection of user data as outlined in this policy. Furthermore, your transmitted text is not used to train their foundational AI models, nor is it retained beyond the standard timeframe required to securely process your request.
Authentication: We use secure backend services to manage your login credentials. When you use Apple or Google to sign in, your authentication is handled securely by their respective native services.
4. Children's Privacy Lingro is an educational tool designed to be safe for children. We do not require users to provide unnecessary personal details, nor do we track device locations. If we discover that any personally identifiable information has been collected from a child under 13 outside of basic account synchronization, we will delete it immediately.
5. Account & Data Deletion You have complete control over your data. You can permanently delete your account, saved words, and all associated learning progress at any time.
In-App: You can initiate instant deletion directly from the app's Settings menu.
