FriendFocus ("we", "our", or "us") is a Google Chrome extension designed to curate your Facebook news feed. Our goal is to provide a focused user experience by displaying posts solely from your synced friend list and hiding content from unknown authors, such as sponsored posts, suggestions, or unrelated pages.
We value your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This policy outlines how we handle your information.
To function correctly, the extension accesses specific data directly from the web pages you visit on facebook.com.
The extension identifies your friends to create an "Allowlist."
What we access: The names and/or profile identifiers of users in your Facebook friend list.
Purpose: To verify which posts in your feed are written by your actual friends.
The extension reads the Document Object Model (DOM) of your Facebook news feed.
What we access: The text associated with post authors/headers on the page.
Purpose: To compare the author of a post against your stored Friend List Allowlist. If the author is not found in your list, the extension hides the post.
We use the information described above strictly for the functional operation of the extension:
Filtering: To distinguish between "Friend" content and "Non-Friend" content.
Display: To render a clean feed containing only posts from users on your allowlist.
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personally identifiable information to outside parties.
All processing happens locally on your device.
No Remote Servers: We do not transmit your friend list, your browsing history, or the content of your news feed to any external servers or databases.
Local Storage: Your friend list data is stored locally in your browser's storage (chrome.storage.local) solely for the purpose of maintaining the filter.
Security: Because data never leaves your browser environment, it is protected by the same security protocols that secure your local browser data.
This extension does not utilize third-party analytics tools (like Google Analytics) or advertising networks. We do not share data with Facebook/Meta beyond the standard interactions required for you to browse the site normally.
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Thus, you are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
