This Privacy Policy applies to DICOM Studio (Android package: dicom.studio), also labelled DICOM to JPG in some app screens.
DICOM Studio is a general-purpose file viewing and image conversion utility. It allows users to open and preview user-selected DICOM files and convert supported images to JPG or PNG. The app may also display selected metadata contained in those files.
DICOM files may contain personal, identifying, or sensitive health information. This Privacy Policy explains how DICOM Studio accesses, processes, stores, and shares information when you use the app.
DICOM Studio accesses files only when you select a file or folder through Android's file picker. If you enable processing of subfolders, files within those selected subfolders may also be accessed.
Selected DICOM files may contain information such as:
Images
Patient names
Study dates
Study descriptions
File names
Other metadata or identifying information contained in the DICOM file
DICOM Studio accesses this information only as necessary to:
Open and preview selected files
Display selected DICOM metadata
Convert supported images to JPG or PNG
Display conversion progress, results, and errors
DICOM file processing is performed on your device.
DICOM Studio does not upload DICOM files, images, or associated metadata to the developer or to a developer-operated server.
The app does not access or integrate with Health Connect.
Converted JPG or PNG files are saved to a destination selected by the user.
Exported filenames may be based on source filenames. If a source filename contains identifying information, that information may therefore also appear in the exported filename.
Text, labels, annotations, or identifiers that are embedded directly in image pixels may remain visible in exported images.
JPG and PNG exports are rendered image representations. They do not preserve the complete original DICOM dataset, all metadata, or the original image precision.
Users should keep their original DICOM files and review exported images and filenames before storing or sharing them.
DICOM Studio does not automatically share your files.
If you choose to share an exported file, Android passes that file to the app or service you select. The receiving app or service processes the file according to its own privacy policy and data-handling practices.
If you select files from, or save files to, a cloud-backed storage provider, that provider may download, upload, synchronize, retain, or otherwise process those files according to its own settings and privacy policy.
Processing performed by DICOM Studio itself takes place on your device, but storage or sharing services selected by you may transfer files over the internet.
DICOM Studio includes a privacy mode that hides the patient-name field in metadata displayed by the app.
Privacy mode is not an anonymization or de-identification feature.
It does not:
Modify or anonymize the original DICOM file
Remove identifying information from filenames
Remove all metadata or identifiers
Remove identifying text embedded in image pixels
Guarantee that an exported image contains no identifying information
Review files, filenames, metadata, and visible image content before exporting or sharing them.
DICOM Studio stores app preferences and up to ten conversion-history entries in the app's private Android storage.
Conversion-history entries may include information such as:
Conversion date
Number of processed files
Number of successful or failed conversions
Selected output format
Destination folder label
During an active session, the app may temporarily hold information necessary to perform requested operations, including previews, selected metadata, filenames, conversion logs, failed-file lists, and output references.
Android may retain access permissions for file locations you authorize through its file picker.
Android backup is enabled in this version. Depending on your device, Google account, operating-system settings, and backup configuration, app preferences and conversion history may be backed up or transferred by Android.
The developer does not directly receive or control Android platform backups.
Preferences and conversion history stored by DICOM Studio remain on your device until they are removed.
You can use the app's Clear history function to delete saved conversion-history entries.
Clearing the app's storage or uninstalling DICOM Studio removes locally stored app data, subject to Android's backup and restore behavior.
Original DICOM files and exported JPG or PNG files remain in their selected storage locations until you delete them using your file manager or storage provider.
Deleting conversion history does not delete source DICOM files or exported images.
Files shared with another app or service are subject to that recipient's retention and deletion practices.
DICOM Studio does not require users to create an account or register with the developer.
This version contains:
No advertising SDK
No analytics SDK
No developer-operated crash-reporting SDK
No in-app purchases
No subscriptions
The app does not request direct internet access, camera access, microphone access, contacts, location, or broad all-files access.
Access to DICOM files and output locations is provided through Android's file picker for files and folders selected by the user.
Android, Google Play, and storage or sharing providers selected by the user may independently process information according to their own privacy policies.
DICOM Studio is offered as a one-time paid download through Google Play.
Google Play and its payment providers process payments according to their own terms and privacy policies. DICOM Studio does not request, collect, or process payment-card information.
Google Play may make order or transaction information available to the developer when necessary for purchase support, refunds, accounting, fraud prevention, dispute handling, or legal obligations.
Purchases and refunds are subject to Google Play policies and applicable consumer law.
If you contact zh0024@protonmail.com, the developer will receive and process your email address and any information you voluntarily include in your message for the purpose of responding to your request.
Purchase-related support may require an order ID or other relevant transaction information.
Do not send DICOM files, medical images, patient identifiers, or other sensitive health information in support requests.
Support email is handled through Proton Mail according to its applicable privacy policy.
Support correspondence and developer-held purchase records are retained only as reasonably necessary to provide support, resolve disputes, satisfy accounting requirements, or comply with applicable legal obligations.
You may contact zh0024@protonmail.com to request deletion of personal information held directly by the developer. Certain records may need to be retained where required for legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, or dispute-resolution purposes.
Google and other third-party providers independently control information held by their services.
DICOM Studio relies on Android's application sandbox and the security mechanisms provided by Android and your selected storage providers.
The app does not add password protection or additional encryption to exported JPG or PNG files.
Only open and process files that you are authorized to access. You are responsible for selecting appropriate storage and sharing destinations and for reviewing exported files for personal or sensitive information before sharing them.
DICOM Studio is a general-purpose file viewing and image conversion utility. Its purpose is to preview supported DICOM files and convert supported DICOM images into standard JPG or PNG image files.
The app does not analyze or interpret medical images, detect medical conditions, provide diagnoses, recommend treatments, or provide clinical decision support.
DICOM Studio is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition.
Do not use previews or exported images for diagnosis, treatment decisions, or other clinical decisions.
Conversion to JPG or PNG does not preserve the complete original DICOM dataset, complete metadata, or original image precision. Keep your original DICOM files and verify exported results.
For medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, consult a qualified healthcare professional.
DICOM Studio is not directed to children.
The app does not provide user registration and does not intentionally request personal information from children.
This Privacy Policy may be updated when DICOM Studio's features, functionality, or data-handling practices change.
When this policy is updated, the Last updated date at the top of this page will be revised. Relevant app disclosures and Google Play declarations will also be updated when required.
