Privacy Policy for Chiron
Chiron ("Chiron," "we," "us," or "our") provides a mobile application that uses your device camera to capture hand movements, tracks hand landmarks in real time on your device, displays an editable hand skeleton, and lets you record sessions and export the results as video, GIF, or transparent PNG sequences (collectively, the "Services").
This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use Chiron. The most important thing to know is this: Chiron is designed to run entirely on your device. We do not operate user accounts, and we do not collect, transmit, or store your camera images, recordings, or exported files on our servers.
By using the Services, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, do not use the Services.
1. Age Requirement
The Services are intended only for individuals who are at least 18 years old. You may not use the Services if you are under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that a person under 18 has used the Services or provided personal information, we will take reasonable steps to delete such information as required by applicable law. If you believe a person under 18 has provided personal information through the Services, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
2. Camera Access
Chiron requests access to your device camera solely to detect and track hand movements and to render the hand skeleton in real time. Specifically:
• The camera feed is processed locally on your device using an on-device machine-learning model (MediaPipe Hand Landmarker) that is bundled with the app.
• The live camera stream is not uploaded, transmitted, or sent to us or to any third party.
• Camera frames are used only to compute hand-landmark positions and to draw the skeleton. They are not saved unless you choose to start a recording.
You can grant or revoke camera access at any time through your device system settings. Without camera access, the core features of Chiron will not function.
3. Recordings and Exported Files
When you create a recording or export a file (video, GIF, or transparent PNG sequence), the resulting files are:
• Stored locally on your device or in a location you choose through your device's file picker.
• Managed by you. You can preview, re-export, and delete recording sessions within the app.
• Not uploaded to our servers and not accessible to us.
If you choose to share an exported file using your device's share features or another app, that action is controlled by you and governed by the terms and privacy policies of the destination app or service.
4. Information We Do Not Collect
Chiron does NOT:
• Require or offer account registration, login, or user profiles.
• Collect your name, email address, phone number, or contact information.
• Include social media login, publishing, or integration.
• Process payments or collect financial or payment information.
• Collect precise or approximate location data.
• Collect biometric identifiers for identification purposes. Hand-landmark detection is used only to draw a visual skeleton on your device and is not used to identify you.
5. Device Permissions Summary
Camera — Purpose: Real-time hand tracking and skeleton rendering. Data leaves device: No.
Storage / File access (via system file picker) — Purpose: Saving and exporting recordings you create. Data leaves device: No.
Chiron may declare internet-related permissions that are standard for its libraries, but the app performs hand tracking and media export locally and does not transmit your personal content over the network for these features.
6. Analytics and Advertising
Chiron does not include third-party advertising and is not built to profile you. If any diagnostic, crash-reporting, or analytics tools are added in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy to describe them and, where required by law, provide appropriate notice or choices before they take effect.
7. How We Disclose Information
Because Chiron processes your camera input and files locally and does not collect personal information on our servers, we do not sell your personal information and do not have personal information to disclose to advertisers, data brokers, or similar third parties.
We may disclose information only in the limited circumstances where we actually hold it and it is reasonably necessary to:
• Comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or a valid government request.
• Enforce our terms, or protect the rights, property, or safety of users, the public, or others.
• Support a business transfer, such as a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate protections.
8. Data Retention
Recordings and exported files remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app. Because we do not store your content on our servers, deletion is fully within your control through the app or your device's file management.
9. Your Choices and Controls
• Camera: Grant or revoke camera access in your device settings.
• Recordings: Preview, re-export, or delete individual recording sessions within the app.
• All data: Uninstalling the app removes app data stored in its private storage. Files you exported to a location you chose (for example, a shared folder or gallery) remain until you delete them.
10. U.S. State Privacy Rights
Residents of certain U.S. states may have rights regarding their personal information under applicable law, such as the right to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information.
Chiron does not collect personal information on our servers and does not sell or share personal information. Because the Services are restricted to adults, we do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 18. Because the app processes your camera input and files locally on your device and we do not hold personal information about you, most requests can be satisfied by you directly through the app and your device settings, including deleting recordings and uninstalling the app.
11. Security
Because your recordings and camera input are processed and stored on your own device, their security depends primarily on your device's security. We recommend using a device passcode and keeping your operating system and the app up to date. No method of storage or processing is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version and update the effective date above. If a change materially affects how information is handled, we will provide additional notice where required by law. Your continued use of the Services after an update takes effect indicates your acknowledgment of the revised Privacy Policy.
This Privacy Policy applies only to the Chiron application and does not cover any third-party apps or services you may use to view or share files you export.
