1. Introduction AudioTTS ("we", "us") is a Chrome Extension designed to convert text to speech on ChatGPT. We value your privacy and operate with a strict "Local Processing Only" policy. We do not have servers, databases, or analytics trackers.
2. Data Collection and Usage We do NOT collect, store, transmit, or share any user data. All processing happens locally on your device (in your browser).
3. Detailed Permission Usage To function correctly, AudioTTS requires specific permissions. Here is exactly how and why we use them:
Host Permissions (*://chatgpt.com/*):
Usage: Used strictly to access the ChatGPT webpage to detect text content and insert the "Read Aloud" button.
Data Handling: Data is processed ephemerally in your browser's memory and is never transmitted to us.
Scripting (scripting):
Usage: Required to inject the audio capturing script (injected.js) into the webpage. This allows the extension to intercept the audio stream and save it as an MP3 file directly to your disk.
ActiveTab & Tabs (activeTab, tabs):
Usage: Used to detect when you are on a ChatGPT tab to activate the extension icon and to facilitate communication between the extension popup and the content script.
Data Handling: We do not track your browsing history or access tabs other than ChatGPT.
Side Panel (sidePanel):
Usage: Used to display the extension's control interface (Dashboard) alongside the ChatGPT webpage, allowing you to manage playback without obstructing the main view.
Storage (storage):
Usage: Used solely to save your local preferences (e.g., your selected language: English or Vietnamese).
Data Handling: These settings remain locally in your browser and are not synced to any external server.
4. Data Sharing Since we do not collect any user data, we do not share, sell, or disclose any information to third parties.
