Overview
Dogmon (“the App”) is a personal pet monitor. You use one of your devices as a Home Station (camera and microphone at home) and another as a viewer. On the free tier, both devices are signed into the same Apple Account. With Dogmon Pro, you can also invite up to three household members who use their own Apple Accounts (see “Household sharing” below). Live video and ambient audio travel over an encrypted WebRTC connection. Bark detection runs on the Home Station. The App does not create a separate Dogmon account.
This Privacy Policy explains what information the App accesses, what stays on your devices or in your iCloud, what is shared with household members you invite, what anonymous usage analytics we collect, and how subscriptions and purchases are handled.
Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect, sell, or share:
Live video or ambient audio recordings on our servers
Your voice command recordings on our servers
Personal profiles or a Dogmon sign-in (you use your Apple Account / iCloud)
Payment card details or your Apple billing information
Analytics advertising identifiers (such as IDFA) for tracking across apps or websites
Location data
Contacts or Bluetooth data
We cannot read the CloudKit data stored under your Apple Account, including data you share with household members.
Anonymous Usage Analytics (Aptabase)
To understand how the App is used and whether core features work reliably, the App sends anonymous product-interaction events to Aptabase, a privacy-first analytics service hosted in the European Union (via our Aptabase EU App Key). Analytics are always on while you use the App.
Examples of events: app opened, Home Station or viewer session started/ended, connection outcomes, bark detected (sound label only), voice command recorded/played/deleted, household invite or join outcomes, paywall shown (and which feature or screen opened it), purchase started, completed, failed (with a general reason such as “cancelled”), or restored, settings opened. Many events include a simple flag for whether Dogmon Pro is active. Purchase events do not include the plan you chose, the price, the product identifier, transaction IDs, or any Apple Account or payment information.
Together with each event, Aptabase’s SDK may attach technical metadata such as operating system name/version, app version/build, locale, device model, and an ephemeral session id that is not a persistent user identity. We do not send video, audio, voice command recordings or names, filenames, bark audio samples, or content from your streams.
This analytics data is not linked to your identity, is not used for advertising, and is not used for tracking as Apple defines tracking (linking data with third parties for targeted ads or ad measurement across apps/websites). Aptabase does not use cookies, device fingerprinting, or advertising identifiers.
Our App Store privacy nutrition label is intended to reflect: Product Interaction data (and, where applicable, Purchases data in the form of anonymous purchase events) used for Analytics, not linked to you, not used for tracking.
Retention of analytics data follows Aptabase’s practices for the service. We do not host your live media on our servers, so there is no stream retention on our side.
Information Processed on Your Devices and in iCloud
Camera and microphone (Home Station)
While Dogmon is in the foreground on the Home Station, the App uses the camera and microphone to stream live video and ambient audio to one viewer at a time: a device on the same Apple Account or, with Dogmon Pro, a household member you invited. Media uses encrypted WebRTC (DTLS-SRTP)—peer-to-peer when possible, otherwise relayed through Cloudflare TURN. We do not store, record, or process that media on Dogmon servers.
Bark detection (on-device)
Bark detection runs on the Home Station with Apple Sound Analysis. Only metadata (for example label, confidence, loudness, time, and which Home Station detected it) may be written to your iCloud database so your other devices—and household members you invited—can show a notification and bark history. Audio used for detection is not uploaded to us for analysis.
iCloud (CloudKit)
Home Station name and availability, short-lived WebRTC signaling (SDP/ICE), bark-alert metadata, and your custom voice commands are stored in the private CloudKit database for your Apple Account (container iCloud.com.pandelion.dogmon). Signaling records expire; bark metadata and voice commands remain until you delete them, use Settings → Clear Dogmon data, or remove the related iCloud / app data. We cannot read this data.
Household sharing (Dogmon Pro)
If you have Dogmon Pro, you can invite up to three people who use other Apple Accounts. Invitations use Apple’s iCloud (CloudKit) sharing; there is no Dogmon account, pairing code, or third-party service. When someone accepts, Apple shares your Dogmon iCloud zone with them. Household members can then see your Home Station names and availability, receive bark alerts and see bark history, view your live video and ambient audio and talk back, and add and play voice commands (including their names and recordings) in the shared library. Voice commands a household member adds are stored in your shared Dogmon zone. Household sharing needs Dogmon Pro on both sides. You can stop sharing, or a member can leave, at any time in Settings → Household; after that, the shared data is no longer available to them through the App. Apple’s participant details (such as the name or email shown in the iCloud sharing sheet) are handled by Apple, not by us.
Voice commands
You can record your own short voice commands (one on the free tier, unlimited with Dogmon Pro) to play through the Home Station speaker. A recording and its name are saved on the device where you record it and synced through your iCloud (and, if you use household sharing, the shared household zone) so the Home Station can play it. Each device that plays a clip keeps a local copy. When you delete a voice command in the App, it is removed from that device and from iCloud (including the shared household zone). A copy already cached on another device stays on that device until you delete it there, clear Dogmon data, or delete the App. Recordings are never uploaded to Dogmon servers. Built-in commands (such as Place, Sit, Stop) are bundled with the App and are not uploaded.
Settings and preferences
The App stores preferences and free-tier usage locally on your device (for example sensitivity, daily Home Station time used, and your voice command list). These values use Apple’s standard on-device storage and are not sent to us as personal profiles.
Local files
Voice command recordings, and any local clips that remain from earlier builds, live on the device until you delete them, clear Dogmon data, or delete the App.
Camera, Microphone, and Notifications
The App may request permission to:
Use the camera and microphone on the Home Station for live streaming and on-device bark detection
Use the microphone on your viewer device when you talk back or record a voice command
Send notifications so your devices can alert you about bark events or connection issues
Bark alerts are delivered as notifications on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac after Apple’s iCloud push service signals that a new bark record exists. If you wear an Apple Watch, watchOS may mirror these iPhone notifications to your watch according to your notification settings; Dogmon has no separate Apple Watch app and sends no additional data to the watch.
iOS / iPadOS / Mac show Apple’s permission prompts. You can change access anytime in system Settings.
Subscriptions and Purchases (Apple StoreKit)
Free Home Station use is limited to 60 minutes per calendar day. Dogmon Pro is available as an auto-renewable subscription, billed monthly or yearly. Payment is processed by Apple and charged to your Apple Account. A subscription renews automatically unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple Account settings (for example Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on iPhone, or via Manage Subscription in the App). We do not receive your payment card details or billing information.
If you previously bought Dogmon Pro (formerly “Dogmon Unlimited”) as a one-time purchase, you keep Pro; no subscription is required.
Through StoreKit, Apple provides the App on your device with your entitlement and subscription status (for example which Dogmon Pro product is active, its expiration or revocation date, and whether it is subscribed, in a grace or billing-retry period, expired, or revoked) so the App can enforce free vs Pro limits. The App uses this status on your device only; it does not store purchase records in iCloud or send them to our servers. Purchase history, refunds, and billing support are handled under Apple’s terms and privacy policy:
Restore Purchases uses Apple’s APIs to re-check entitlements on your device/Apple Account.
Internet Use
The App may use the network when:
Devices exchange WebRTC signaling via your private CloudKit database (or the shared household zone)
Voice commands and bark metadata sync through iCloud
Live media connects peer-to-peer or via Cloudflare TURN relay
The App fetches short-lived ICE/TURN credentials over HTTPS from a Cloudflare Worker (the Worker does not receive media or Apple Account data)
You buy, restore, or manage a subscription or in-app purchase (Apple)
The App sends anonymous usage analytics events to Aptabase (EU)
You open linked pages such as this Privacy Policy, the Terms of Use, or the Support form in Safari / in-app browser
Live video and audio are not uploaded to Dogmon servers as part of those credential or analytics requests.
Third-Party Components
Anonymous usage analytics are provided by Aptabase (see above). Connectivity may use Cloudflare TURN/STUN for WebRTC when a direct peer connection is not available. Subscriptions and purchases are processed by Apple. CloudKit, iCloud sharing, and push delivery are provided by Apple under your Apple Account.
Data Retention
Live WebRTC media: not retained on Dogmon servers
CloudKit signaling: short-lived / expiring records
Bark-alert metadata in CloudKit: until you clear Dogmon data or remove related iCloud / app data
Voice commands in CloudKit: until you delete the voice command, clear Dogmon data, or remove related iCloud / app data; cached copies on each device until deleted on that device, Dogmon data is cleared there, or the App is deleted
Data shared with household members: available to them until you stop sharing or they leave the household
Subscription and purchase records: kept by Apple under Apple’s terms; the App does not keep its own copy
Local preferences / free-tier counters / local files: until you delete them, clear Dogmon data, or delete the App
Anonymous analytics events: retained by Aptabase according to their service practices
Because CloudKit data and local files live under your Apple Account / device, you control deletion there; we cannot access those stores to delete them on your behalf.
Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). Do not use the App to submit personal information about children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Anonymous analytics do not identify individual users.
Your Choices
You can:
Deny or limit camera, microphone, or notification access in system Settings
End a Home Station or viewer session at any time
Delete individual voice commands in the App
Stop household sharing or leave a household in Settings → Household
Use Settings → Clear Dogmon data to wipe Dogmon’s CloudKit records and local files the App manages (this also stops sharing and leaves any households)
Delete the App and/or sign out of iCloud on the device to remove related local and iCloud app data
Manage, cancel, or request refunds for subscriptions and purchases through Apple (as applicable)
Contact us via the Support form with privacy questions about anonymous analytics
International Users
Live media is transmitted between your devices (and may transit Cloudflare TURN for connectivity). CloudKit data, including data shared with household members, is stored under your Apple Account according to Apple’s practices. Anonymous analytics events are sent to Aptabase’s EU region. If you contact us for support, any information you voluntarily send (for example via a support form) will be handled only to respond to your request.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
