Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 2026
CookIt (“the app”) is developed and maintained by an independent developer. This Privacy Policy explains what data the app collects, how it is used, how it is stored, and what choices you have.
1. Data We Collect
When you create an account, the app may collect your email address, display name, and optional profile photo.
When you use the app, we store the content you create, including recipes, recipe images, categories, notes, links, and shopping list data. This data is associated with your account so it can be saved and synced across your devices.
2. How We Use Your Data
Your data is used to:
create and manage your account;
save and sync your recipes, categories, notes, images, links, and shopping lists;
provide the main features of the app;
improve app stability and understand general app usage.
We do not use your personal recipe content for advertising.
3. How Data Is Stored
The app uses Google Firebase services, including Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, and Firebase Cloud Storage.
Your account data and app content are stored on Google Firebase infrastructure. The exact storage location depends on the Firebase project configuration. Data is protected by Firebase security features and is encrypted in transit and at rest where supported by Firebase.
4. Analytics and Crash Reporting
The app may use Firebase Analytics to collect usage information, such as which features are used most often. This helps improve the app.
The app may also use Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports and diagnostic information, such as device type, operating system version, app version, crash details, and general technical information needed to understand and fix problems.
Analytics and crash reporting do not include your recipe text, notes, shopping list content, or uploaded images.
Analytics and crash reporting are disabled in debug builds.
5. Feedback and Support
If you send feedback or contact us for support, we may receive the information you provide, together with technical details such as your device model, iOS version, and app version. We use this information only to understand your feedback, troubleshoot issues, and improve the app.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
Data is shared with Google only as necessary to operate Firebase services used by the app, including authentication, database storage, file storage, analytics, and crash reporting.
7. Data Retention and Account Deletion
Your data is kept for as long as your account exists.
You can delete your account at any time from:
Profile → Delete account
Deleting your account permanently removes your account data from the app, including Firestore documents, uploaded images, and the Firebase Authentication record.
Some technical logs, backups, or diagnostic records may remain for a limited period where required for security, fraud prevention, debugging, or legal compliance.
8. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to your personal data, correction of inaccurate data, deletion of your data, restriction of processing, objection to processing, or withdrawal of consent where processing is based on consent.
To make a privacy-related request, contact the developer using the email address below.
9. Children
CookIt is not intended for children under 13 years old. The app does not knowingly collect personal data from children.
10. Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. When changes are made, the “Last updated” date will be changed.
