Overview
Car Number Blur (“the App”) anonymizes license plates in videos you select. Processing runs on your device. We do not operate an account system, and we do not upload your videos to our servers for anonymization.
This Privacy Policy explains what information the App accesses, what stays on your device, and how purchases are handled.
Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect, sell, or share:
Your dashcam or other videos
Personal profiles or account data (the App has no sign-in)
Analytics advertising identifiers for tracking across apps or websites
Location data
Contacts, microphone, camera (live capture), or Bluetooth data
The App’s privacy nutrition labels are intended to reflect: no tracking and no collected data types beyond what Apple requires for on-device functionality and purchases.
Information Processed on Your Device
The following stays on your iPhone unless you choose to share it yourself (for example via the iOS share sheet or by saving to Photos):
Videos you select
When you import a video, the App reads it from your photo library or files to detect and pixelate license plates. Temporary working files may be created during processing and may be deleted when you discard a result or when the system clears temporary storage.
Saved outputs (Gallery)
If you save a processed video, a copy may be stored in the App’s local documents storage (in-app Gallery) and, if you confirm, in your Photo Library. You control deletion of Gallery items in the App and of Photos items in the Photos app.
Settings and preferences
The App stores preferences locally on your device, such as:
Whether you completed onboarding
Language preference (System / English / German)
Daily free-usage counter for the freemium limit
These values are stored with Apple’s standard on-device storage (for example UserDefaults / app documents) and are not sent to us.
On-device machine learning
License-plate detection uses a model bundled in the App and runs with Apple frameworks (such as Core ML / Vision) on your device. Video frames are not sent to us for inference.
Photo Library Access
The App requests Photo Library permission to:
Let you select videos to process
Let you save anonymized videos back to Photos (when you choose Save)
iOS shows Apple’s permission prompts. You can change access anytime in Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos.
Purchases (Apple StoreKit)
If you buy Car Number Blur Pro, payment is processed by Apple. We do not receive your full payment card details.
Apple may provide the App with purchase/entitlement status (for example, whether Pro is unlocked) through StoreKit so the App can enforce free vs Pro limits. Purchase history and billing support are handled under Apple’s terms and privacy policy:
Restore Purchases uses Apple’s APIs to re-check entitlements on your device/Apple ID.
Internet Use
Core anonymization does not require an internet connection.
The App may use the network only when:
You complete or restore an in-app purchase (Apple)
You open linked pages such as this Privacy Policy or the Support form in Safari / in-app browser
We do not use your videos as part of those link opens.
Third-Party Components
The App includes third-party model weights and algorithm provenance under MIT licenses, as listed in the App’s Third-Party Notices. Those components run on-device as part of the App binary; they do not create a separate data-collection channel to their authors through this App.
Data Retention
Temporary processing files: short-lived on device
Gallery / Photos saves: until you delete them
Local preferences / free-tier counters: until you delete the App or clear app data
Because we do not host your videos, we cannot delete copies that exist only on your device—you delete those locally.
Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). Do not use the App to submit personal information about children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your Choices
You can:
Deny or limit Photo Library access in iOS Settings
Discard processed results without saving
Delete Gallery items in the App
Delete the App to remove local App data
Manage or refund purchases through Apple (as applicable)
International Users
Processing occurs on your device. If you contact us for support, any information you voluntarily send (for example by email or a support form) will be handled only to respond to your request.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
