Overview

Car Number Plate Blur (“the App”) anonymizes license plates in videos you select. Processing runs on your device. We do not operate an account system, and we do not upload your videos to our servers for anonymization.

This Privacy Policy explains what information the App accesses, what stays on your device, what anonymous usage analytics we collect, and how purchases are handled.

Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect, sell, or share:

Videos and frames used for license-plate detection never leave your iPhone for processing.

Anonymous Usage Analytics (Aptabase)

To understand how the App is used and whether core features work reliably, the App sends anonymous product-interaction events to Aptabase, a privacy-first analytics service hosted in the European Union (via our Aptabase EU App Key).

Examples of events: app opened, onboarding finished, video import started, processing started/completed/failed, paywall shown, purchase completed or restored, settings or gallery opened.

Together with each event, Aptabase’s SDK may attach technical metadata such as operating system name/version, app version/build, locale, device model, and an ephemeral session id that is not a persistent user identity. We do not send video files, filenames, file paths, plate text, or other content from your videos.

This analytics data is not linked to your identity, is not used for advertising, and is not used for tracking as Apple defines tracking (linking data with third parties for targeted ads or ad measurement across apps/websites). Aptabase does not use cookies, device fingerprinting, or advertising identifiers.

Our App Store privacy nutrition label is intended to reflect: Product Interaction data used for Analytics, not linked to you, not used for tracking.

Retention of analytics data follows Aptabase’s practices for the service. We do not host your videos on our servers, so there is no video retention on our side.

Information Processed on Your Device

The following stays on your iPhone unless you choose to share it yourself (for example via the iOS share sheet or by saving to Photos):

Videos you select

When you import a video, the App reads it from your photo library or files to detect and pixelate license plates. Temporary working files may be created during processing and may be deleted when you discard a result or when the system clears temporary storage.

Saved outputs (Gallery)

If you save a processed video, a copy may be stored in the App’s local documents storage (in-app Gallery) and, if you confirm, in your Photo Library. You control deletion of Gallery items in the App and of Photos items in the Photos app.

Settings and preferences

The App stores preferences locally on your device, such as:

These values are stored with Apple’s standard on-device storage (for example UserDefaults / app documents) and are not sent to us as personal profiles.

On-device machine learning

License-plate detection uses a model bundled in the App and runs with Apple frameworks (such as Core ML / Vision) on your device. Video frames are not sent to us for inference.

Photo Library Access

The App requests Photo Library permission to:

iOS shows Apple’s permission prompts. You can change access anytime in Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos.

Purchases (Apple StoreKit)

If you buy Car Number Blur Pro, payment is processed by Apple. We do not receive your full payment card details.

Apple may provide the App with purchase/entitlement status (for example, whether Pro is unlocked) through StoreKit so the App can enforce free vs Pro limits. Purchase history and billing support are handled under Apple’s terms and privacy policy:

Restore Purchases uses Apple’s APIs to re-check entitlements on your device/Apple ID.

Internet Use

Core anonymization does not require an internet connection.

The App may use the network only when:

We do not use your videos as part of those link opens.

Third-Party Components

The App includes third-party model weights and algorithm provenance under MIT / AGPL licenses, as listed in the App’s Third-Party Notices. Those model components run on-device as part of the App binary; they do not create a separate data-collection channel to their authors through this App.

Anonymous usage analytics are provided by Aptabase (see above). Aptabase’s SDK is also listed in Third-Party Notices.

Data Retention

Because we do not host your videos, we cannot delete copies that exist only on your device—you delete those locally.

Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). Do not use the App to submit personal information about children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Anonymous analytics do not identify individual users.

Your Choices

You can:

International Users

Video processing occurs on your device. Anonymous analytics events are sent to Aptabase’s EU region. If you contact us for support, any information you voluntarily send (for example by email or a support form) will be handled only to respond to your request.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
