Phone Tracker is a location-based Phone safety and device management application. To provide these services, we collect personal data that is necessary for the app’s core functionality.
We collect precise location data, including GPS coordinates, background location updates, and historical location information. This allows members to view each other’s real-time location, location history, and receive safety alerts. Location data may continue to be collected when the app is not open, provided you have granted background location permission.
We collect device information such as device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers, battery level, IP address, Wi-Fi and network status. This information helps maintain app performance, improve reliability, and ensure tracking functions properly.
We may collect account information including your name, email address, and profile image if you choose to provide them. This is used to identify members within private groups.
The app also collects usage and diagnostic data, including feature interactions, crash reports, and performance logs. This helps us detect errors, prevent misuse, and improve the app.
If you use features requiring it, the app may request camera access. Camera access is used only for app-related features such as adding a profile photo or optional safety functions that you enable.
We collect notification-related data to send safety alerts, tracking updates, and device status notifications.
Phone Tracker requires certain Android permissions to provide safety, tracking, and device management features. Each permission is used strictly for app functionality and not for unrelated purposes.
ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION permission allows the app to access precise GPS location data from the device. This is the core feature of Phone Tracker, enabling users to see the real-time exact location of connected members on a map. Precise location is necessary for accurate safety monitoring, geofence alerts, and emergency tracking.
ACCESS_BACKGROUND_LOCATION allows the app to continue collecting location data even when the app is closed or not actively in use. This ensures continuous tracking for safety purposes so members can always know each other’s location, especially during emergencies.
FOREGROUND_SERVICE_LOCATION allows location tracking to operate through a foreground service with a visible notification. This ensures users are aware that tracking is active and improves reliability of real-time updates.
FOREGROUND_SERVICE is the permission, but Android requires you to declare the service type, and there are different categories like location and mediaPlayback. Here’s the clear explanation you can place in your policy or documentation:
When Phone Tracker uses the foreground service with type “location”, it means the app is actively running a visible background service specifically for continuous location tracking. Android requires a persistent notification when this service is active so users always know tracking is happening.
This service type is used to deliver real-time location updates, safety monitoring, geofence alerts, and emergency tracking. It allows the app to continue receiving GPS updates even when the app is not open, the screen is off, or the device is in the background. Using a foreground service ensures the system does not stop tracking due to battery restrictions and guarantees reliable updates for safety purposes. This type of service processes only location-related data and is used strictly for tracking features.
If the app declares foreground service type “mediaPlayback”, it means the foreground service is allowed to play audio or media while running in the background. In a Phone safety app, this is typically used for emergency alert sounds, loud alarm tones, or remote ringing features that help locate a lost device even if it is in silent mode.
This service type allows the app to continue playing an alert sound until the user responds. It does not record audio, listen to users, or access the microphone. It is strictly for outputting sound notifications such as safety alarms. The service still runs with a visible notification, so users know it is active.
The location type is for GPS tracking and movement updates, while the mediaPlayback type is for playing audible alerts or alarms. Both run as foreground services, both show notifications, and both are required for safety-related real-time features, but they process different kinds of system resources.
POST_NOTIFICATIONS allows the app to send notifications such as safety alerts, location updates, battery alerts, emergency warnings, and account-related messages.
INTERNET permission enables the app to connect to secure servers to transmit location updates, account data, and notifications.
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE allows the app to detect whether the device is connected to the internet, ensuring location updates are sent when connectivity is available.
CHANGE_NETWORK_STATE helps the app manage data syncing and network communication for more stable performance.
ACCESS_WIFI_STATE helps determine device location more accurately using Wi-Fi networks and improves connection quality.
MODIFY_AUDIO_SETTINGS allows features such as remotely triggering a loud ring on a member’s device if it is lost or in silent mode.
ACCESS_NOTIFICATION_POLICY enables the app to override “Do Not Disturb” mode in emergency situations so urgent safety alerts can still be heard.
WAKE_LOCK prevents the device from sleeping during active tracking sessions, ensuring location updates are not interrupted.
USE_FULL_SCREEN_INTENT allows emergency alerts to appear prominently on the device screen.
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED allows tracking services to restart automatically when the device is turned on again, ensuring continuous safety coverage.
FOREGROUND_SERVICE allows long-running services such as live tracking to operate responsibly in the background.
REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS ensures the app’s tracking service is not stopped by aggressive battery-saving features.
MANAGE_DEVICE_ADMINS is used only when users enable device security features such as remote lock or wipe. This permission is optional and fully controlled by the user.
CAMERA permission may be used for optional features such as adding a profile photo or security-related functionality that the user chooses to enable.
SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW allows important safety alerts to appear on top of other apps in emergency scenarios.
We only use permissions necessary for Phone Tracker features and do not collect unrelated data.
Under GDPR and LGPD, we must explain the legal grounds for processing personal data. We process your information based on your consent when you grant permissions for location tracking, camera access, or notifications. We process data to perform our contract with you by delivering tracking services. We rely on legitimate interests to ensure security, prevent fraud, and improve our services. In some cases, processing may be required to comply with legal obligations.
We may share limited data with trusted service providers such as cloud hosting providers, analytics services, and notification delivery partners. These partners process data only on our behalf and are bound by confidentiality and data protection agreements. We do not sell personal data to third parties.
Users have the right to know whether their personal data is shared. Upon request, we will provide details about categories of data shared and with whom.
We retain personal data only as long as necessary to provide our services or comply with legal obligations. Location history is stored until you delete your account or disable tracking. Account data is kept until account deletion. Diagnostic logs may be kept for up to 24 months for performance and security analysis. When data is no longer required, it is securely deleted or anonymized.
All users have the right to access their data, correct inaccurate information, request deletion, and know whether their data is shared. You also have the right to withdraw consent and opt out of certain data processing activities.
Under GDPR, EU users have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, portability, objection to processing, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
