This Privacy Policy explains how Dmitrii Iakovenko, providing ChessMotive under the Cyber Sparrow Games name (“Cyber Sparrow Games,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), processes information when you use the ChessMotive application (the “App”).
This Policy applies to the App on iOS and iPadOS and, when the compatible App is made available there, macOS. ChessMotive does not currently offer an Android version.
No ChessMotive or Cyber Sparrow Games account or registration is required.
Learning progress, preferences, mistake reviews, and games against local bots are stored on your device.
Google Firebase Analytics is enabled by default in the production App and may collect app-usage and technical information from your first use. The App does not show a separate analytics consent window at startup.
You can turn analytics off or back on in Settings. Turning it off stops future collection by the App, but does not erase information already sent to Google.
The App contains no third-party advertising and does not use cross-app tracking, targeted advertising, or an advertising identifier.
Optional purchases use Apple StoreKit. Optional games with friends use Apple Game Center.
The App does not request access to the microphone, speech recognition, camera, photos, precise location, contacts, or files outside its own storage.
The App does not send your learning activity to a generative-AI provider.
The App stores information in its operating-system sandbox so that its features can work. This may include:
completed lessons, the current lesson and step, solved puzzles, and studied master games;
attempts, correct-answer totals, exercise totals, activity dates, and streak information;
positions saved for mistake review, including the relevant position, move, lesson or puzzle reference, review date, and success count;
active and completed offline games, including move history, date, result, selected bot, chosen side, and hint preference;
starting level and onboarding state;
interface language, theme, text-size, music, sound, haptic, and learning-goal preferences; and
your analytics setting.
The main learning record is stored in a local JSON file. The App keeps a rolling local backup copy to recover from an interrupted or corrupted save. ChessMotive does not provide account-based cloud synchronisation for this learning data.
Deleting the App normally removes its local sandbox from that device. Apple device or cloud backups may retain or later restore App data according to your Apple Account, device, and backup settings. Restoring a purchase does not restore the local learning record.
The App includes Google Firebase Analytics to help us understand whether features work as intended and where the App can be improved. Analytics is enabled by default in the production App, including on a fresh installation, unless you turn it off in Settings. Collection can begin when you first use the App; there is no separate analytics consent window at startup. In the current iOS implementation, TestFlight, sandbox, and Xcode installations keep Firebase Analytics disabled.
When analytics is enabled, Firebase Analytics may process:
app launches, sessions, app updates, and general feature usage;
screens or sections opened in the App;
lesson and puzzle completion or outcome data without answer text, chess move history, or full board positions;
selected language, starting level, feature settings, and Premium access state;
in-app purchase and subscription events that Firebase may collect automatically, such as product identifier, product name, price, and currency;
app version, operating-system version, device model or category, and general technical information;
a randomly generated app-instance identifier and, where available, Apple’s Identifier for Vendor (IDFV);
coarse geographic information derived from an IP address during transmission. Google states that Google Analytics does not log or store the IP address itself.
We do not send your name, email address, Game Center player identifier, support-message content, payment-card details, Apple Account password, purchase receipt, full transaction token, lesson answer text, chess move history, or full board positions to Firebase Analytics as custom analytics data.
The App is configured to use the Firebase Analytics Core integration without Apple’s AdSupport framework and to deny advertising storage, ad-user-data, and ad-personalisation consent. We do not use App analytics data for cross-app tracking, targeted advertising, or advertising measurement, or combine it with data from other companies for those purposes. The current integration is not intended to collect Apple’s Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA).
Firebase Crashlytics, Firebase Authentication, Firebase Cloud Messaging, Firebase Performance Monitoring, advertising SDKs, and developer-operated cloud accounts are not integrated into the App.
The App starts with analytics enabled in the production App. It does not ask you to make a separate analytics choice before collection begins. You can turn analytics off or back on in Settings. Turning analytics off does not limit lessons, puzzles, local bots, purchases, or Game Center.
When you turn analytics off, the App stops sending new custom analytics events, instructs the Firebase Analytics SDK to stop future collection, denies analytics storage and advertising-related consent in the SDK, and resets analytics data stored locally by that SDK, including its app-instance identifier. If you turn analytics back on, future collection can resume and Firebase may assign a new app-instance identifier.
Turning analytics off or resetting local SDK data does not necessarily remove information already transmitted to Google or included in aggregate reports. You may contact us at cybersparrowgames@gmail.com with a privacy request. Where technically possible and legally required, we will use the controls available to us through Google Analytics and Firebase.
Your analytics setting is stored locally in the App’s preferences. The App does not send that preference as a custom analytics event.
ChessMotive may offer monthly, six-month, and annual auto-renewable Core Premium subscriptions, a one-time Premium Lifetime purchase, individual advanced-course purchases, and an advanced-course bundle.
Apple processes payments through the App Store and StoreKit. Cyber Sparrow Games does not receive your full payment-card number, bank-account credentials, Apple Account password, or verification codes.
The App receives limited information needed to display products, start and restore purchases, verify entitlements on the device, and open Apple’s subscription-management interface. This may include product identifiers, localised product names, price and currency, verification state, active entitlement identifiers, expiration information, and whether a transaction is pending, refunded, or revoked.
Current entitlement verification occurs on the device. The App does not send purchase receipts or transaction tokens to a Cyber Sparrow Games server. When Firebase Analytics is enabled, Firebase may automatically record limited in-app purchase and subscription event information as described in Section 3.
Apple separately processes transaction and payment information under its own privacy terms.
Game Center is optional. Lessons, puzzles, master-game replay, and games against the six local bots do not require Game Center sign-in.
If you use a Game Center friend match, Apple authenticates the Game Center account and operates the turn-based match service. The App may receive or exchange through Game Center:
opaque player and match identifiers;
invitation, participant, match, and turn status;
the participant whose turn it is;
the initial position and move history required to reconstruct the match; and
the result or resignation status.
ChessMotive does not provide its own chat, public profile, friend directory, or multiplayer server. Cyber Sparrow Games does not copy Game Center matches to its own cloud service. Apple controls the retention and use of Game Center information under Apple’s policies and your Game Center settings.
Depending on your device, distribution channel, and Apple privacy settings, Apple may collect crash, stability, performance, download, purchase, and store-delivery information and may provide diagnostic or aggregated reports to developers.
Apple also controls App Store distribution, StoreKit, Game Center, device backups, and related retention practices. Information Apple processes independently is governed by Apple’s policies and your Apple settings.
If you contact us by email, we may receive your email address, the name shown by your email service, your message, attachments you choose to send, and technical or purchase information you voluntarily include.
We use this information to answer your request, provide support, investigate problems, address privacy requests, protect the App and users, and comply with legal obligations. Do not send passwords, full payment-card details, purchase receipts or tokens, authentication codes, or unnecessary sensitive information.
Google provides Firebase Analytics, which is enabled by default in the production App until you turn it off in Settings. Google processes analytics data on our behalf and may also process limited Firebase service data under its own terms. Firebase and Google Analytics may process data outside your country. We configure the SDK to disable advertising storage and personalisation and do not connect the App’s analytics stream to an advertising SDK.
We require service providers that process data on our behalf, including Google for Firebase Analytics, to provide the same or equivalent protection described in this Policy and required by applicable law.
Google’s information about Firebase privacy and data collection is available at:
Apple provides App Store distribution, StoreKit purchases, subscription management, refunds, Game Center, platform diagnostics, and optional device backups. Apple may act as an independent controller for these services.

Our email provider may process information you voluntarily send in a support message. The App does not automatically send your local learning record to the support provider.
We may disclose information where reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law or valid legal process, protect users or legal rights, investigate fraud or security incidents, or complete a merger, acquisition, reorganisation, or transfer of the App subject to appropriate safeguards.
We do not sell or rent personal information, provide personal information to data brokers, or disclose it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We do not combine App analytics data with data from other companies for targeted advertising or advertising measurement.
Local App data: retained on your device until overwritten through use, removed with the App, or restored from an Apple backup.
Analytics: retained according to the settings and controls configured for the associated Google Analytics property. Aggregate reports may remain after an individual device stops collection. Disabling analytics resets data stored locally by the SDK.
Purchase and Game Center data: retained by Apple according to Apple’s policies and your account settings. The App does not retain these records on a Cyber Sparrow Games server.
Support communications: generally retained for up to 24 months after a request is resolved, unless a longer period is reasonably necessary for security, dispute resolution, or legal compliance.
Apple diagnostics: retained by Apple according to Apple’s policies and settings.
Apple, Google, and our support provider may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Where applicable law requires safeguards for an international transfer, the relevant provider or controller relies on its applicable contractual safeguards, approved transfer mechanisms, or other lawful measures.
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures appropriate to the information. Apple and Firebase service connections use encrypted network transport.
Local learning data is stored in the App’s operating-system sandbox, but the App does not add separate application-level encryption to its local JSON save and backup files. Device security therefore depends primarily on the operating-system sandbox, device encryption, passcode, backup settings, and protection of your Apple Account.
No method of storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Depending on your residence and applicable law, you may have rights to receive information about processing, access personal information, correct inaccurate information, request deletion, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, receive portable data where applicable, and complain to a competent supervisory authority.
You can turn analytics off in Settings at any time. This affects future collection but does not automatically erase information already received by Google. Depending on applicable law, you may also be able to object to processing or request deletion.
Because there is no ChessMotive account and most learning data remains only on your device, we generally cannot remotely access, export, correct, or delete that local information. Requests concerning Apple Account, App Store, Game Center, or Apple backup data must generally be made to Apple.
To submit a request, email cybersparrowgames@gmail.com.
Residents of Armenia may also contact the Personal Data Protection Agency of the Republic of Armenia. EEA residents may contact the supervisory authority in their country. UK residents may contact the Information Commissioner’s Office.
If applicable California law grants additional rights, these may include rights to know, delete, correct, opt out of sale or sharing, limit certain uses of sensitive information, and exercise rights without unlawful discrimination. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
The App does not make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects through automated profiling.
The App is intended for a general audience and is not directed specifically to children under 13. A parent or legal guardian should manage purchases, Game Center, and the analytics setting for a minor where required by law or Apple account controls.
The App does not knowingly create child profiles, display behavioural advertising, or use analytics for advertising. If you believe that a child provided personal information through support without appropriate authorisation, contact cybersparrowgames@gmail.com.
We may update this Policy when the App, its integrations, or legal requirements change. The current version will be posted at:
