Hi, I'm Prithvi!
I'm a management consultant at Bain & Company in Atlanta.
Before I started at Bain, I used to be a doctoral student in management at INSEAD, specializing in decision sciences. My research interests lie in behavioral decision science, experimental economics, and decision making under risk and uncertainty. Or if you prefer, I like performing experiments on unsuspecting students to see how their decision making is affected by the latest theories I've concocted.
I like studying things. Before I began my PhD, I studied economics as an undergraduate at New York University, and as a master's student at the Erasmus University Rotterdam. I also have a master's degree in management science from the London School of Economics. Life outside academia is scary, this is common knowledge.
I occasionally wrote dissertations as part of a contractual obligation to fulfill credits toward my degree. My thesis at EUR concerned ethical implementation of behavioral science based policy, and developed a framework to evaluate nudges that I affectionately refer to as Prithvian Ethics. I was supervised by Peter Wakker. My thesis at LSE delineated the impact of popularity on the effectiveness of default options through lab experiments and field data. I was supervised by Barbara Fasolo and Elena Reutskaja. See here for other papers I've written as part of my time in academia.
I enjoy traveling so I can eat the local food, see interesting places, and occasionally jump off cliffs attached to a para-glider and an over-eager instructor who does far too many loop-the-loops so we can "lose altitude." Sometimes I lift heavy weights and put them back down again. My max lifts are 110/120/140 kg (242/265/308 lbs) for bench/squat/deadlift at 80kg (176 lbs) body weight. Elden Ring and other titles by FromSoft are my current video games of choice. I can also fumble my way through Metallica songs on guitar.
Here's my LinkedIn. My email address is prithvi [dot] shashikant [at] gmail [dot] com. Feel free to reach out if you want to chat!
