Pritha Chaudhuri

I am a Senior Data Scientist at Intuitive Surgical, delivering data-driven insights for the CFO and Finance team.

Prior to this role I was an Assistant Professor of Economics at Hamilton College in Clinton, NY. I taught Econometrics, Macroeconomic Theory, and Money and Banking. I have also advised senior students in their honors thesis in economics, served as a member of the faculty search committee for the Economics Department in 2020-21 and served as a member of the College Judicial Board.

My research interests include macroeconomics and financial economics, machine learning in macroeconomics and forecasting. I have worked on projects to quantify Federal Reserve communication using computational linguistics and machine learning on FOMC meeting statements and minutes.

During my PhD at Purdue University, I worked with Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium (DSGE) models to study the implications of heterogeneity in the labor market on design and conduct of monetary policy. I used Bayesian estimation techniques to estimate key parameters of the model and studied optimal monetary policy design in such a setting.
