Production of high-value products
Utilization of several waste products (crude glycerol, lignocellulosic biomass etc.) for the production of several value-added products (dihydroxyacetone, lactic acid) is the major aim our research. Biological route is adopted over chemical processes due to various advantages.
Production of biofuels and biopolymer
Production biofuels (ethanol, butanol, biodiesel) and biopolymers (polyhydroxybutyrate, bacterial cellulose) to address the issues of energy security and environmental hazards are the other area of research.
Biological wastewater treatment
Biological wastewater treatment is more effective and economical in comparison to the various mechanical or chemical processes. We are focusing on designing the process and optimization of various parameters to achieve the maximum removal of organic matters. Two different methods are adopted for this process, (i) aerobic process, (ii) anaerobic process.
