The Prince George's Debaters Association was established to create a unified network of student debaters throughout Prince George's County.
Across the county, many talented students participate in speech and debate programs, while others seek opportunities to develop their public speaking and leadership abilities. PGDA was founded to connect these students, expand access to debate opportunities, and create a stronger culture of civic engagement and academic achievement.
We believe debate is more than competition. Debate teaches students how to think critically, communicate effectively, conduct research, evaluate evidence, and engage respectfully with differing viewpoints.
Through collaboration between schools, student leaders, educators, and community partners, PGDA seeks to empower the next generation of leaders.
To empower students through speech and debate by fostering critical thinking, effective communication, leadership, civic engagement, and respectful dialogue.
A future where every PGCPS student has access to high-quality speech and debate opportunities that prepare them to become confident communicators, informed citizens, and compassionate leaders.
