One of the 'must have' in managing a forest management unit is a forest management plan. This plan defines the planned forestry activities (e.g. FMU/compartment boundaries, landuse zoning, high conservation value areas, timber stand, growth and yield, harvest scheduling, silviculture, roading and infra structures), management objectives, and administrative arrangements in a forest area. A forest management plan is also an important document communicating forest management objectives and strategies to key stakeholders that includes people living in or near the forest.
