UPDATES:

12 November 2018 - A series of workshops on climate change education was conducted in Fiji and facilitated by the Fiji Curriculum Advisory Services of the Ministry of Education. The workshops consist of 2 days each in 6 districts in Fiji - Suva, Nausori, Nadi, Ba, Labasa and Savusavu and targets a total of 342 secondary school teachers. Workshop facilitators consisted of curriculum development officers who participated in a training of trainers on 25 and 26 July 2018 in Suva. The series of workshops are a collaboration between the Fiji Curriculum Advisory Services of the Ministry of Education, the European Union Pacific Technical and Vocational Education and Training on Sustainable Energy and Climate Change Adaptation (PacTVET) Project and the GIZ Coping with Climate Change in the Pacific Island Region Programme.

1 August 2018 - A workshop on Recognition of Prior Learning was conducted for higher education institutions in Fiji on 1 and 2 August 2018 at the Tanoa Plaza, Suva, Fiji. The purpose of the workshop was to assist educators in effectively conducting recognition of prior learning for the regional certificate levels 1 to 4 in Resilience and regional certificate levels 1 to 4 in Sustainable Energy. The workshop was organised by the Fiji Higher Education Commission as part of its collaboration with the European Union Pacific Technical and Vocational Education and Training on Sustainable Energy and Climate Change Adaptation (PacTVET) Project.

25 July 2018 - A training of trainers was conducted for trainers in the Curriculum Advisory Services (CAS) in Fiji on 25 and 26 July 2018 at the Peninsula Hotel, Suva, Fiji. The aim of the workshop was to strengthen capacities in resilience education (climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction) for trainers to effectively deliver accurate climate change and disaster risk reduction concepts, activities, approaches and pedagogies in the classroom, hence equipping teachers/ students /future leaders of Fiji with the relevant knowledge and practices for a more resilient Fiji. The workshop was supported by the European Union Pacific Technical and Vocational Education and Training on Sustainable Energy and Climate Change Adaptation (PacTVET) Project and the Pacific Community / German International Cooperation (SPC/GIZ) Coping with Climate Change in the Pacific Island Region Programme (CCCPIR). 18 June 2018 - There is currently a cohort training being conducted at the University of the South Pacific - Pacific TAFE campus for Certificate IV in Resilience. There are 25 trainees and the training will run from 18 June to 5 October 2018. The training was funded by the European Union Pacific Technical and Vocational Education and Training on Sustainable Energy and Climate Change Adaptation (PacTVET) Project and the Pacific Community (SPC).
