ACT 3 STORY CONTEST
OFFICIAL RULES & TERMS
1. SPONSOR
The Prey for Mason Act 3 Story Contest is sponsored by Eyre Films, LLC (“Producer”).
2. ELIGIBILITY
Open to individuals 18 years of age or older.
Open internationally, except where prohibited by law.
No purchase necessary to enter.
3. CONTEST OVERVIEW
Participants are invited to submit a story idea for an Act 3 ending of a short film (“Pray v Prey”), a derivative work based on the Prey for Mason feature written by Kate M. McMahon.
4. HOW TO ENTER
All entries must be submitted via FilmFreeway during the submission period.
Entrants must review the Creative Brief before submitting.
5. SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
2-3 sentence summary (required)
Optional expanded version (up to 300 words)
Optional video pitch
6. CREATIVE GUIDELINES
Submissions must:
Be original work created by the entrant
Align with the theme: “Love your enemy”
Be achievable using:
The existing primary house location
Existing characters
Approximately 2–3 minutes of screen time
A one-day shoot/reshoot (if needed)
Entries that do not follow these guidelines may be disqualified.
7. SUBMISSION PERIOD
Opens: [April 26, 2026]
Closes: [May 3, 2026, Midnight Central Time]
Producer reserves the right to extend or modify deadlines.
8. JUDGING & SELECTION
Entries will be evaluated based on:
Creativity and originality
Alignment with theme and tone
Feasibility of production
Audience engagement (if featured publicly)
Producer may:
Select one or more winners
Combine multiple submissions
Choose no winner
Finalists may be featured on social media and/or community platforms for audience interaction.
Final winner(s) will be determined solely by Producer.
Producer may consider audience engagement (such as views, comments, or reactions) as one of several factors in evaluating submissions. Audience engagement is not determinative, and final decisions remain solely with Producer.
9. PRIZES
Grand Prize (may be split):
$300 USD total
On-screen credit in the completed short film
IMDb credit (credit type determined by Producer)
Your idea may be produced and featured in the final film
Access for two (2) to a private in-person screening on or about June 1, at
Malco Powerhouse Cinema Grill in Memphis, TN
(winner responsible for travel and lodging)
Winner(s) will be notified privately on or about May 6, and awarded publicly on or about June 1.
Producer may, at their discretion:
Select runner-up(s)
Split prize funds among multiple entrants
Prize is awarded as-is. No additional compensation will be provided.
Qualified Entrants:
Entrants whose submissions meet the Creative Guidelines may receive:
Access to all private online screenings
A unique digital frame of the short film and the feature film
Producer reserves the right to determine qualification.
Additional Opportunities:
Select participants may be invited to:
Virtual set visit (livestream)
Post-production sessions
Community collaboration opportunities
Invite to purchase tickets to a private in-person screening on or about June 1, at
Malco Powerhouse Cinema Grill in Memphis, TN
(participants responsible for travel and lodging)
Finalists and selected entrants may be invited to a private online screening event where the winning ending is revealed, on or about June 1. NDA required, so that the winner(s) can participate in post-production process while keeping the announcement of the winner(s) secret until the screening.
10. RIGHTS & LICENSE
By submitting an entry, you agree to the following:
10.1 Ownership
You retain ownership of your original submission.
10.2 License to Producer
You grant Producer a perpetual, worldwide, irrevocable, royalty-free license to:
Use, reproduce, adapt, modify, edit, and incorporate your submission
Combine your submission with others
Use your submission in connection with the Prey for Mason project and related works
10.3 No Obligation
Producer is not obligated to use any submission or to provide credit.
11. CREDIT
If a submission is used, credit may be provided at Producer’s discretion, including but not limited to:
“Story Contribution by [Name]”
“Additional Writing by [Name]”
No specific credit is guaranteed.
12. DERIVATIVE WORK ACKNOWLEDGMENT
Entrants acknowledge that:
The Contest is based on underlying material created by a separate writer
Any selected submission will be incorporated into a derivative work
All resulting works may include credit such as:
“Based on an original screenplay by Kate M. McMahon"
Entrants acknowledge that submissions are based on materials provided by Producer, including a teaser and story brief, and that all resulting works remain part of the Prey for Mason project universe.
13. PUBLICITY RELEASE
By entering, you grant Producer the right to:
Use your name, likeness, and submission
Share excerpts or full submissions for promotional purposes
No additional compensation will be provided.
15. NO CONFIDENTIALITY
Submissions are not confidential. Do not submit materials you wish to keep private or proprietary.
16. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
By entering, you agree to release and hold harmless Eyre Films, LLC and its affiliates, partners, and representatives from any claims arising from participation in the Contest or use of submitted materials.
17. GENERAL CONDITIONS
Producer reserves the right to:
Cancel, modify, or suspend the Contest
Disqualify any entrant who violates these rules
All decisions by Producer are final.
18. GOVERNING LAW
This Contest is governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, United States.
