WELCOME TO ART APPRECIATION.
Art has been created on our planet for over 25,000 years and the range of styles, formats, movements and interpretation is equally as diverse as you might expect. From the pre-Renaissance period through all the various movements to the modern era and sensationalist and large scale artwork that we have today it is this diversity that makes studying Art History a fascinating and rewarding activity.
At the Art Appreciation Group meetings one of our members often gives a Talk and/or Slide Presentation on their chosen theme, frequently on a single artist or a period of art or an art movement. We also often have Group discussions or we bring an object of Art that we own and discuss our knowledge of the piece, and the reasons why it is special to us.
Any member can suggest a topic and volunteer to present it, but this is entirely up to the Member concerned.
We have a very wide range of topics and activities that are already available to include in our very flexible Programme and the Group always welcome contributions.
